Go to your friendly neighborhood post office. Or in my case, go to the busiest post office in a large metro area otherwise known as the suburban post office. You would have no clue by the way they operate this place that it is the center city Philly post office.
They have 2 people working at the counter, despite the fact that there are about 10 stations that people should be working at. I have to wait 40 minutes in line because I need to verify that I don't need additional postage for my super light invites. Of course because they are square, I need an extra .20 on them. No big deal, what's another $10. She tells me that they're out of .20 stamps so she'll get me .10 stamps. Fine. She comes back and says that they're out of .10 so here are .05 stamps. Did I mention that these invites are square? There is not room for 5 effin stamps on them without them looking trashy. I spent a pretty penny on the invites and ordered special return address labels to match the invites just to make them look nice, so I am not smooshing 5 stamps on them. Did also mention that they are out of Forever stamps? WTF?! She tells me to try a different post office. Really? I explain to her that I just waited in line 40 minutes and now do not have time to go to another post office. I ask if she can just meter them for me and she tells me that will take too long. Really? Because it just took way too long for me to wait for some help and you've given me none. I say thank you and walk away, having accomplished absolutely nothing.
I go to the use the machine to see what it has in it. I get my forever stamps, which are somehow available in the machine. I find that there is an option for various amounts of postage, however, you can only buy them in increments of 5. I stood at the machine and placed 10 orders of .20 in increments of 5 which was basically the same as getting them metered because they aren't real stamps. Now people are getting annoyed with me because I'm taking up the machine for so long, but I really don't care because I've been in this god damned post office for nearly an hour. Did I mention that there is only one machine in this place?
Creme Brulee to you all for suffering through my vent. Now I have to get these invites stamped and in the mail, since I didn't do it in the post office due to my annoyance. Guess I'm not getting any work done for a while.
Re: Vent: if anyone is looking for some frustration...
Ah the post office. On my list of favorite places up there with the DMV.
Hope the rest of your day went better
