uncomfortable sitting/standing at work - suggestions

I'm 7wks and I work in a small boutique where majority of the day I am either sitting/standing at the cash wrap. I work 8-15 hours a day so it can get very tiresome and is becoming more and more uncomfortable. Does any one know of good (safe) stretches to do at work?

  • I don't mean to laugh, but you're 7 weeks pregnant. You shouldn't be having trouble standing yet. Talk to me when you're 35 weeks...

In the meantime, just sit down when you can.

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut

     It's called Rag Doll Pose:

Hinge at your hips. Release your fingertips to the ground. Take a small knee bend to let you lower back release if you have tight hamstrings, you can slowly start to straighten your legs as your back releases. Then grab for opposite elbows. You can swing from side to side, or just stay still.

Another variation is to intertwine all 10 fingers behind your back after you hinge forward at your hips.

I am *constantly* doing this throughout the day. I am only 5 weeks and my back is killing me.

     Hope this helps!!! :)

  • Thanks I will try those. Yeah I know its early. It feels weird saying it, but I have had several miscarriages because of issues with my uterus and same issue causes extra strain on it. So it is very uncomfortable sitting or standing for too long (pregnant or not) and I was just wondering if there were any stretches safe for pregnancy or things anyone else has tried to ease being uncomfortable......oh yeah and  I too am worried about getting to 35 weeks...most likely I will be on bed rest way before then.  :)
