NBR: Making brownies/cookies using oil instead of butter

Hey Everyone,

I am trying to make a cookie brownie mix (from a box) and it calls for butter, but I don't have enough in house (don't ever have enough margarine). Can I substitute it with oil?

TIA

  • I think it should be okay, I've heard you can use applesauce too. I've never tried it myself though!

  • Don't know if it's too late, but I'm not sure since butter is thicker than oil, but i know you can sub applesauce for oil-I would try that.

  • Yeah, it should be fine.

Also, if you are ever looking for another brownie recipe, google "black bean brownies." Sounds gross, by my grandmother made them and they were soooo good, and good for you! :)
