Hives

Yesterday and today my belly and chest are covered in hives.  i had them during the day yesterday, they lessened at night, now they are back with a rage.  Has anyone experienced this?  What can I take for it?  or is it just topical stuff?  My Dr. doesn't open for another hour, I plan to call, but I'm hoping for some relief asap.

Re: Hives

  • My OB said I can take Bendryl which is what I would take for hives.

  • For this pregnancy I have had this hives/rash thing like three times and it has been really hard to find relief. The only thing that seems to help is neosporin ointment and an organic anti-itch cream! but i just suffer thru it without touching it as much as possible and ut goes away after a few days.. the doctor says just topical treatment.
  • I had HORRIBLE hives at 9 weeks - covered from head to toe - and we still have no idea what caused it.  They lasted about 5 or 6 days and my OB told me to take Benedryl as needed.  In addition to that, I used hydrocortizone (that spelling could be totally off, sorry) creams and the topical Benedryl spray. I also took like-warm baking soda baths that gave me some immediate/temporary relief.  Beware not to take a hot bath or shower though, as that can lead to flare-ups (not to mention we shouldn't take hot baths while pregnant anyway).

I feel your pain, it is horrible.  I hope they clear up soon, but until then give yourself some relief.   Good luck!
