We got the Philips DECT (non LCD) set. We've played around with it, DH went outside to see how far the range was. We scanned all 60 channels to see if we could pick any neighbor's monitors up. The sounds was really clear, the star "show" is cool, we liked the walky-talky feature.
Does it have alot of bells/whistles? Yes. But we got it anyway.
FP Sounds 'n' Lights. We actually have two of them. One base stays in DS's room and one goes in the guest room where he naps during the day. The bases we have stay in our room, the main floor, and the basement, so we can turn them on to whichever channel corresponds to the room he's in (A= upstairs, B= guest room).?
The antennae come off for easy packing/traveling, they plug in so you use fewer batteries, and we've never had a problem with interference on either channel. All parts are very compact, and the bases have nightlights in them. We have no complaints.
I have the Sony Baby Call monitor and highly recommend it. Who else to buy an electronic device from than an electronic manufacturer? I've never had any interference and it works to the very back of our yard.

We got the Summer video monitor too. I obviously haven't used it yet, but I was really pleased with how clear the picture was when we were playing around with it.

correction: the *receivers* we have... not the bases!
