Hi Ladies! I have a question about Eugene....
My DH has a possible job opportunity in Eugene, OR and I wanted to stop by here to ask if anyone knows anything about the area. Thanks!

My brother and his wife currently live there and they love it so much they are hoping to buy a house in a few years to start a family. My brother also graduated from UofO, so Eugene feels like home to him.
I've been able to visit several times. It's probably changed a little since I've been there. I know it's laid back and my brother says it's gives off a kind of "small town" feel that he really likes. It's a very GREEN town with year-round farmer's markets and plenty of organic grocers. New restaurants are popping up all over town and you're near all the stadium if you're interested in any football games!!
GL with the interview and definitely plan a weekend to visit befor he excepts anything so you can kind of a sense of what Eugene is all about.

I love Eugene! It's a medium sized college town. Springfield is right there also, but I prefer Eugene proper. Definetly visit for a few days before you move!
There's a nestie on the Oregon Nest board that lives there, Hurrican Keri or something like that. I would page her on that board and ask her any specific questions!
I live in Eugene and have for 8+ years. I moved here to go to the UofO and my DH and I love it so much we don't foresee leaving ever.
It's a very liberal and laid back town. Very diverse. It has a great mixture of people---from the students, to business professionals, to "hippies," to sports nuts.
Like PP said, Farmer's Markets and farms all over the place for local and organic food. There are quite a lot of restaurants that only serve local and organic food also. Shopping is decent--but I usually take the short drive to Portland for better shopping.
Not sure how diverse Eugene really is...I also went to UO. I love Eugene and it has that small town feel with larger amenities. Definitely take advantage of all it has to offer. I would stay away form East side of campus, that is where most of the students live and it can get SUPER crazy during the evenings/weekends. Enjoy and go Ducks!!
