disposable diapers?

Which brand do you use?  We have been using Huggies Little Snugglers and LO has been peeing out of them!  ugh!  I think sometimes it comes out of the waist (if she is laying flat) and sometimes the legs (if she is laying on her side).  We have also used Pampers regular (don't remember their names, but not the ones with dry max), but DH felt the net in the Pampers helped give LO diaper rash.

I don't know if leaks are just part of the joy of diapers or if there is something else we can do.  I did just go buy a bigger size even though she is still 1lb too small for the size 2 diapers, but I've got to try something!

TIA!!

Re: disposable diapers?

  • We've been using Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive (another deviation from my "plans" to cloth diaper Stick out tongue).  These don't have the Dry Max.  Hank is only a newborn so I don't know how his "output" compares to an older baby, but we haven't had any problems so far.

  • We were given several packages and boxes of size 1 Pampers and 1 HUGE Costco size box of Huggies.  We used the Pampers first and had no issues and then switched to the Huggies size 1-2.  At first I couldn't believe the difference in quality compared to the Pampers, they just seemed so cheap imo.  Anyway, there are 200+ Huggies in the box so we must use them :)  But yes, I have noticed LO leaking (side of sleeper was damp) on a couple of occasions when I get him from his crib, this never happened with the Pampers.  We also have a ton of size 2 Pampers so hopefully they'll fit him when we are out of the Huggies stash.

ETA: A couple of our Pampers packages were Dry Max and we didn't have any problems with diaper rash.  Every child is different though so you never know.

  • We only CD on weekends, so we use sposies all week....

UGH!!! I've have terrible luck with Huggies in general.  He ALWAYS leaks out of them!  We sometimes use Nature Babycare, but we just started leaking occasionally from those, too.

The only ones we've never, ever leaked out of are Pampers.  I prefer the Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive.  By the way, Henry had some diaper rash in the beginning, and I thought the Pampers was causing it, but now I don't think so at all.  I think he just had it in the beginning, period, and would have no matter what diapers we used.  He hasn't had any for over two months now, and we've used Pampers again since then.

  • We used the Pampers Swaddlers until he outgrew those (at least the ones with the mesh liner). I never liked Huggies because they didn't seem to absorb as well.  Since he has grown, we actually perfer the Huggies over the Pampers.  I hope that helps.
  • We only use disposables when we travel but we use Pampers and haven't had any leak issues.  My friend said that Fisher Price now makes diapers and she LOVES them.  And they're cheaper than the other brand names.  Maybe you could try those.

  • We use pampers baby dry - At sam's they sell a pack of 200+ for $37. No mesh/net on them. We also put desitin on our Kailani's baby buns. She's only had diaper rash a handful of times and that's because she slept in a poopy diaper by accident. I felt horrible.

  • We use Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive and Huggies. I think one thing is how you put on the diaper. I noticed that making sure the side flaps in the front wrap around to the back more helps prevents leaks in general. Another thing is the both diapers tend to leak overnight now, especially if we don't do a night changing. We also went up a size to catch more. But overall, I like Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive more than the Huggies.

So now I do one night changing when I nurse him since he's already awake for the nursing. I actually like the Costco diapers a lot. They're cheaper and I don't remember ever having leaking issues with them but I had only bought 1-2 boxes and had stocked up on Pampers and Huggies. When I'm done with those, I'm going back to Costco unless I have a good deal w/coupon on the Pampers.
