Appropriate amt. to pay a friend to watch your child?

My mom's friend has offered to watch my little girl from time-to-time. I would like to pay her something for her time but am not sure what is an appropriate amount. Any ideas? Input? Since I'm trying to keep her out of day care for a while, it will be sporadic. Sometimes for 1-2 hours and sometimes for up to 6-8 hours. I don't think she expects a full-fledged day care-type rate, but something would be nice. Thanks!

    A friend watches M when I'm at work (part time). If it's for less than 4 hrs I give her $15, if it's more than 4 I give her $30.
