Cloth Diapering

Help w/ which detergent for HE machine please.

I just ordered my first diapers but Im confused about what detergent I should buy now.  I've looked at the info on this site:

https://www.pinstripesandpolkadots.com/hedetergentchoices.htm

Which says Not To Use Tide powder but then I just got some dipes I ordered from Jillians Drawers that says To Use original Tide powder to wash.  Jillians says dont use free and clear detergents and this website recommends All Free and Clear.

I want to use something that I can buy easily and dont have to go to a specialty shop or order online.  Ive look at both my Target and Walmart and neither carry Country Save which seems to get high ratings.

What do you use in your HE machines??

  • I have used Charlie's Soap (with no rash issues), and now use Country Save.  I get it at a local CD store.  Some people have luck finding CD safe detergent at health food type stores.  If you're in Chicago, I'm guessing there's some sort of store like that nearby, could you try calling them to see what they offer?

  • I use Rockin Green. I have to order it, but one bag lasts forever since I only need like 3/4 TBSP per load.

  • I use Charlies.  I ordered a small bag on amazon when our LO was first born and we loved how it works and didn't cause any rash issue so I went to Charlie's website and found the closest store that sells it, and they happen to sell it in bulk so I just stock up every once in a while

  • We use Rockin Green hard rock. We live in Texas and have really hard water, so we use 2 tbsp, but a large bag lasts us forever. You can order samples, if you want to try it out.

  • I use Rockin Green, but have also used Tide Original HE powder with no problems.
