Mariana Ruah was born a few weeks early, but
healthy and perfectly fine, at 10:40 Saturday night. My water did break
Friday morning, so we needed to actually start contractions, but once
that kicked in, we just rocked it. I'm totally never doing that again,
but it was an amazing, amazing experience!
Things that suck:
*needing cervidil, and then responding ridiculously strongly to cervidil and going from 1cm to 9cm in 90 minutes
*grouchy nurses who yell at you for not letting them bathe the baby
*hemorrhaging and tachycardia
Things that don't suck:
*utterly
amazing partner, doulas, and midwives who help you through a 7.5 hour
labor (said painfully fast progress had the midwives worried about
whether this was a good thing or going to need more intervention to slow
things down and let my body catch up and deal) with no mention of pain
meds (from cervidil to Mariana on my chest, looking at me with
sleepy-WTF-just-happened eyes)
*OMG, I have a baby! And she's freaking amazing!
*She's far more of a Winston Churchill-looking baby than a creepy Golem baby, which is a huge relief.
*M has been blow-me-out of the water uh-mazing with her. I am in awe of how this teeny person has changed us into even more of a team.
Re: in case you missed it...
Oh my gosh, Krista! Welcome back
I'm so glad things went well (or, whatever "well" really means given all the craziness of childbirth)! I can't wait to see pictures of her!
Can I ask for the proper pronunciation of her name? Is it "Mary-Anna" or "Marr-ee-ahna"? Either way, it's beautiful.
Yay!! So happy that you all are safe, and you sound amazingly, wonderfully, blissfully happy. Love.
I'm sure she's absolutely beautiful, and I can't wait to see pictures!
Congratulations!!! I cannot wait to see pictures.
I've been thinking happy new family thoughts for you. So glad to hear that things are going well. Congrats again, mama!

CONGRATS!!! I feel you on the fast labor! Having done it twice I will say the fast labor is totally better than the slow and steady labor.
Can't wait to see pictures.
Congratulations!
FWIW, I went from 0cm-6cm in 2 hours with cervidil. The nurse was completely flabbergasted by it so I can only imagine how they reacted to your experience.
