Door Jumpers, jumperoos=controversy?

Has anyone heard anything controversial about these? ?I heard from someone that there has been studies about it being bad for their development but can't find anything to back that up...

  • I haven't heard anything controversial. I'd be a little afraid of the door way one because it doesn't seems as stable, and I'm a worrier. We registered for the jumperoo and will probably buy it for Christmas since it didn't get purchased.

  • So are pacifiers...we can't all be perfect. Screw it - if the kid loves it do it.
  • I heard that anything between their legs like that - whether its a walker, bouncer, carrier, etc is bad. I'm not getting anything that goes between their legs.
  • I haven't heard anything negative about them.  My little sister LOVED hers when she was a toddler (she's 16 now) and I haven't seen anything lacking as far as development goes.  She's in college and will have her associate's degree and hs diploma by the time she's 18.  She's shy and only has a couple friends, but I don't think you could blame it on a jumperoo, lol.
  • Personally, I wouldn''t use the door ones but we did have a jumperoo for my DD.  Basically, everything in moderation should be okay.  Basically it can screw up some hip development if babies are left in these (or even exersaucers) for extended periods of time.  Twenty minutes, though, should be fine for a baby as long as they are still getting held and regular floor time.
  • Huh?! I have never heard of this. Everyone I know who has an infant or a toddler has a Jumperoo and their kids not only love them, but all seem perfectly normal. If anything, I would think that it would help to build their leg muscles not hinder their development.

From what I've read about this is that until the baby can hold it own weight by sitting up, putting too much strain on their backs may cause developmental problems.

That  being said my niece loved her jumparoo so much I got one and plan on using it.

  • Yeah we registered for a jumperoo but of course someone felt the need to get us a door jumper instead because that's what they liked...and then someone told me that they can cause hip and back problems but like I said I haven't been able to find that in my research so just curious if anyone else had.
  • They may eventually pull the molding away from the doorframe, but other than that I've not heard anything controversial about them.

  • If a jumperoo is to "blame" for your sister being in college at 16 I think I'll buy 2 for my little guy!
  • I used to love my Johnny Jump-Up when I was a baby. There are a million pictures of me in it giggling and smiling. I'm pretty sure it didn't harm my development.?

  • My son loved his!  So much that we bought two so that I didnt have to drag the one around the house.

He was walking by 10 months and never had any kind of hip or back problems.

  • Any kids that I have seen in one absolutely love them. I haven't heard of any developmental problems. But we will get the stand up one rather than the doorframe one.
