Dh got a card in the mail from his mom about how they found the comment of how expensive adoption was interesting and that they weren't aware of any of our friends being in this position so they thought it might be a more personal issue.
She went on that they didn't want finance to play too much of a part in our decisions and that they would be willing to help us out if needed. But they weren't trying to butt in or step on toes.
It's awesome that the offer has been put out there but I am honestly confused about this conversation that I was apparently not a part of. :P
DH and I remember it as being in the car and passing a sign for a garage sale that said it was an adoption fundraiser. Someone started talking about it and mentioned maybe it was a pet fundraiser or for a shelter. I opened my big mouth and mentioned that I'd heard of people doing that for people adoptions because it can be pretty expensive.
Then MIL and FIL had a discussion about how expensive, expensive is... DH and I were not a part of that conversation at all.
We also don't really discuss our friends' attempts at procreation (other than the two that were broken up and still having unprotected sex resulting in their daughter). I think it's a little odd that they assume we would bring random personal facts about friends we've never mentioned to them.
Either she is super intuitive or she "found" something we'd tucked away.
Very, very strange.
Re: True story
Interesting. But awesome...I think it's nice of them to offer without seeming too pushy about fishing for details.
I think Moms are more intuitive than maybe we give them credit for. She may have noticed a small look between you and your DH...or was just being preemptively nice.
