Babies: 0 - 3 Months

i need advice please!

My baby is is 4 months old and has no schedule. she won;t nap during the day. she fights me all the time. these days i am lucky if she takes a 30 minute and 45 minute nap during the day. that is it.

then, at night she sleeps for like 6-8 hrs straight. wakes up and eats and sleeps for another 3 hrs...she usually sleeps a total of 10 hrs at night...

do u have any recommendations? and ideas? any books? thanks..

What are you complaining about?  She's a crappy napper, but she's sleeping awesome at night.

  • Her nighttime sounds great!  I hope you're not disappointed with that.

As for the naps, is she getting overtired maybe?  What signs does she show that tell you she's tired and what do you do to get her to nap?

I read the No Cry Sleep Solution and it was very helpful.  I definitely recommend it!

  • i read the book Baby Wise and DD has been sleeping thru the night since she was 6 weeks old.  good luck
  • We use the baby whisperer books and follow the EASY routine (Eat, Activity, Sleep, You-time).  It's helped him get settled for naps during they day, although they're pretty short - 45 min to 1 hr.  Your night time routine sounds lovely, though!

  • Are you putting him down in the same place everyday?

PLEASE do NOT use this book!  The AAP, LLL & WHO all have come out with warnings against this book.

  • no...i do not put her down in same place every day.........
  • I also used Babywise, and my daughter has been sleeping through the night since 10 weeks.  No, I have never let her cry it out, and yes, I always feed her when she is hungry.

Babies' naps lengthen often at age 4-5 months.  Before then, they will wake up at the 30-45 minute mark since that ends one stage of sleep.  As they get better at self-soothing, they can remain asleep and make it through the transition and sleep longer during naps.  My DD's naps started lengthening to 1.5 hour naps when she learned to use the pacifier to soothe herself past the 45 minute mark.  HTH
