how do you keep your maternity jeans up?

I have 2 pair of jeans w/ the secret fit belly (soft elastic band that goes over the bump).  Love them cause they're super comfy but neither wants to stay up.  I'm constantly having to hike them up.  My co-workers have begun to make fun of the little dance I do.

Any of you have the same problem?

Re: how do you keep your maternity jeans up?

  • I hate the belly panel for this reason! WIth my dd I had a couple secret fit belly pants and I was CONSTANTLY pulling them up! SO annoying!

THis time around I refuse to buy the belly panel so thus have no maternity pants yet... :( EVen though the smallest size at Destination Maternity is way too huge... *sigh* Im having to belly band it.

  • Yea i hate them for that reason too.  It's like you're hiking up panty hose or something :)
  • My maternity jeans are from the gap, and they are lower cut in the front but button just like regular jeans... no hike up issue I just wear a belt as they are still a bit loose.
  • I don't have any suggestion on keeping yours up but I bought a pair from JCPenney with the full panel and I have not had any issues with them and they are cheap too! I refuse to spend $ on my favorite brand of jeans when I don't know how big my butt/hips are going to get. Actually, is there anyway that you can put another piece of elastic at the top of the panel, you could have a tailor do it too. It's awful having to hike them up every time you get up.

  • I have the same problem with every pair of pants i've ever owned.  My hips are bigger than my waist, and i have no butt, so they just slide down but i have to get the size i get because of my hips.  I have heard from several that have been pregnant say that it is consistant no matter what style you have once your belly gets big, the pants stretch out over the day and start to fall.  good luck, but i think its an ineviable!

  • I bought the Be Band from Target and I love it. It is the same material as the secret fit "waist band". But otherwise I was having the same problem. =)
  • I have one pair of the secret fit waist band and I tug on them constantly.

I have another pair with the "mid belly" band. They have a thicker elastic band that hits about my belly button. I LOVE them! They stay put all day.

  • I really like the demi-panel pants that I have.  I haven't had a real problem with them staying up, and they are super comfortable.  I have one pair of full panel jeans and a pair of full panel pants from H & M.  I fold over the pants, and they seem to work a lot better that way.  I guess wearing the belly band over the pants is probably the way to go.
  • I find that the full panel made of that thin, stretchy material (similar to the belly band) (I have a pair from Kohls) always fall and I have to pull them up. Also, demi panels from the Gap tend to fall, too. The only pair of jeans that I haven't had to constantly yank up are from Old Navy--just a full panel flare. The panel seems to be thicker and it's got a fat ol' elastic band on the top. That seems to keep them up in place!

  • I thought I was the only one!  I do that all day long with all my maternity pants!  Doesn't really bother me, it could be worse they could be too tight and squeeze everything!
Joshua 1:9 - "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.
  • The smallest pair of pants I own have an extra 3-4 inches in the hips, I'm just a smaller frame prepreggo and they seem to not make anything smaller, I have the under belly thick band, they work pretty well except for an occasional hike but I have some hand me down secret fits, and the band is definately way softer and would slide down, but they down't quite fit yet as I'm just now showing.

I remember with my other pregnancies though the last month my under belly panels slide down because their is such a sharp curve at the belly lol. Can't ever really win.

  • I have the exact same problem with my mat jeans and cords. I think the weight of the fabric is just too heavy. I end up having to use my belly band over the fabric. This keeps them up without adding any bulk.

  • I have this problem with my maternity jeans, but have NO problems with my dress pants for work. I never tug at all. And they are both the secret belly fit from MM. The work pants are a size smaller than the jeans though, so maybe that is it.

  • You've got to try H&M's full belly panel stretchy jeans. They are so awesome! Only problem is that they are not sold online. you have to go to their store and must try them on as they are not all awesome. Just some styles work for me.

The panel is super, super thick (a double very stretchy well constructed layer) and huge BUT it's the same color as the jeans. The jeans themselves look to be very low-rise and have a button and fly. The panel creates a smooth baby bump and I've never had an issue with them staying up.

They are the only jeans I wear and have just packed up all the ones i was given by well meaning friends in a rubbermaid bin and only wear the H&M ones.

  • I wear the belly band over them.  It sucks.  And like the other poster said, it's only with the jeans.  The other pants stay up fine.  I HATE them, but I refuse to spend more money.

  • the gap jeans are awesome! I'm wearing a low panel that stretch with you. They feel like stretch pants that expand and I've been wearing about a month now. I was growing out of my sevens jeans and didn't want to use a belly band with them. they were pushing on my bladder! highly recommend.
  • i hated the belly band. it slide up and my pants went down. i have some mat jeans from target that are pretty good. but even pp for my pants slid down, i never could find pants that fit right.
