We've had two losses and with both we were super excited we told the entire world. It was really hard to go after the m/c to tell everyone, some we felt like we broke their heart (my poor mom suffers too much each time) and some we just got the most inappropriate comments and advice that this time we decided to just wait until after the holidays (I will be 12 weeks). I would want to wait until my 5th month but think it will be to hard. We want to keep it as low key as possible and have told three people so far (we just would not wait we had to tell some one).
How long did you wait?
Re: When did you tell family.
We waited until after our first u/s (8 weeks, 5 days), when the doctor told us everything looked great.
We will wait to tell extended family until for sure 2nd tri or if possible thanksgiving, when I will be 16 weeks.
I told my mom at 7 weeks, only because I freaked out because I was spotting and she is an u/s tech. We told other immediate family after our u/s at 9 weeks. We told extended family and friends this weekend because I hit 2nd tri.
We told our parents/siblings right away because I knew I would need my mom and dad there if it happened again. We let them tell the rest of the families as it came up.
It really is a very personal decision, though, and you should do what you feel comfortable with.
We told immediate family around week 10 and then the rest of the family around week 12. Do whatever you feel is best for you and your family though.
