Diapers (second time moms come in!!)

For those using disposable diapers, what brand are you going with?  I wanted to add some onto my registry so that I had a nice amount to start with.  Any suggestions ... especially those second time moms?

Re: Diapers (second time moms come in!!)

  • We used Pampers with dd and loved them.  We are going to try Pampers and Huggies with this guy and see what works best for him.

  • We're a Pampers family. I've tried just about every kind out there and Pampers just work well for us. Huggies are also nice. I use only their wipees.

My favorite are the Pampers Swaddlers for new babies. Right now we use Cruisers or Baby Dry.

  • After the first couple of weeks (when we used Pampers from the hospital), we used Luvs.
  • We're going to use Pampers Swaddlers and Huggies Little Snugglers (NOT the Snug and Dry or whatever it is that comes in the white package) in the beginning to see if there is any difference.  There really wasn't with DD, but who knows, especially if this baby is a boy.  And once s/he grows out of the swaddlers/snugglers sizes, we'll switch to Target's Up and Up.

  • We use Pampers, but only Baby Dry. We don't want to take a chance by buying anything with Dry Max in it, especially since DD's skin is kind of sensitive.

  • with ds I bought a variety, just to see what fit would work best. But with lo I just got target brand up & up brand bc that's what ds wears and they work great.
  • Wish DD we used a mix of cloth diapers and Pampers in the beginning.  When she was around 5 months we switched her to the Costco (Kirkland) brand diapers and love them.  We'll be doing even more cloth diapering with this LO and use the Kirkland when we use disposables.

  • This is my first but I've got a few boxes of Pampers Sensitive and plan on using them...then I'll probably switch to the Target up and up b/c I heard they were great.  So far I got 1 box of NB, 2 boxes of size 1, 2 boxes of size 2 and a box of size 3.  I had crazy coupons from amazon and paid about $75-80 for all of them :)

I'm a huge amazon mom fan now :)

  • With my son, we used the Huggies Gentle Care, with the umblical cut out.  I then spent the next year trying to find something that didn't leak.  I tried everything.  I heard bad reviews about Luvs, but since I had tried everything else, I gave them a shot and they almost NEVER leak.  And when they do, it's because somebody (Daddy!) didn't put it on right.

From all the research I've done, it completely depends on your child.  You might have to try several different brands until you find something that works.

  • It's really all about what works for your kid.  Trial and error, unfortunately.  What works perfectly for one kid might leak everywhere or cause nasty rashes on another.  I went with pampers sensitive in the newborn size (not a huge box though, in case he's a big boy) and then bought a box each of pampers and huggies in size 1.

  • With DS we used pampers swaddlers and then cruisers. For night time I took diaper liners and put them in the disposable diapers for extra protection (they are for cloth diapers and you can flush them, but we just threw them away with the diaper). We never had a diaper leak in the night (DS still woke up if soiled but it was never a mess). We also did it for long car rides. This baby we will be doing the same thing.

  • We used Pampers at first, then switched to Luvs.  Once she hit size 3, we started using the Sam's Club brand and those were GREAT.  I am sad that they do not come in 1's and 2's because they were great quality and very reasonably priced.  Many people swear by Target's brand, but we always had issues.

Like someone else said, it will very much depend on your child.  They are all different.

  • We used Target brand when DD was first born. They worked great until she hit size 2 and then they fit funny. We then switched to Huggies and liked them as well.

We switched to cloth diapers when she was 7 months old but went back to disposables when she was down to just a diaper at bedtime. We went with the Up and Up brand at Target and never had any issues.

We will be using cloth this time but if we decide to keep some disposables around we'll use the Up and Up brand again.
