It's been a week on Prevacid and DD has a meltdown in the evenings anywhere btwn 6 and 10pm and it usually lasts for quite some time. I feel so bad for her. She just gets so upset and I can tell she is in pain and just cannot get comfortable

She wants to eat/sleep but can't....is it just going to take time for the Prevacid to work better and will this continue to happen????
Re: Evenings are the worst...
We're on Zantac, but our doc lets us give 1ml of Mylanta 10 min before he eats. We have to wait the full 10, but it helps so much. He can't do it on either one solo, but together they work beautifully. It took us about 3 weeks to get it all worked out and it was horrible, but it looks like we're on the right track now...I hope something starts working for you soon!
We noticed improvement on Prilosec in 2 -days and a drastic improvement in a week. If you don't, I would call your doctor.
Andrew also got overtired easily. By 3 months he was going to bed at 6 and sleeping until 6. it took us a while to figure that out but he would freak out and thrash his body.
((Hugs))
my Lauren has been screaming all day....all evening....everyday this week. i'm holding her and typing with 1 hand. i'm soooo physically tired. will ask pedi tuesday what to do for the refux. zantac is really not helping....
It took a good two or so weeks for Prevacid to kick in, in my case. I noticed great improvement for the first couple of days then a big back slide. After two or so weeks, all the symptoms seemed to go away. She spits up a lot less now too, although Prevacid will not do that, just time and maturity. Don't give up!
Make sure you are giving it properly. The timing has to be very close - empty stomach, then eat 30 minutes later. When I started really sticking to this, it was like I had a different baby. We just had a growth spurt so the dose needed to be increased. Good luck, it really is a miracle drug.
