So my husband has ZERO desire to go to parenting classes or childbirth classes and to be honest I don't want to go either even though I have no idea how to deliver a baby. Any one else just not doing it?
We aren't doing child birth - but are breastfeeding, child preparedness, and taking care of mom postpartum - they are all in the same day about 3 hours. The child birth is like 8 hours and my H really doesn't want to do it either so we aren't. I'm indifferent.
I don't think I will be, but for different reasons. My stepkids live with us full time, and we won't really have a weekend between now and my due date to fit the class in and don't really have anyone to watch the kids.
I'd love to be able to take a class, but I just don't think it's going to work out.
We're not. DH also doesn't want to really go and I feel the books I've read are enough to at least get me to the hospital. I'm pretty sure they'll know what to do from there. Nature will pretty much take over.
DH and I went to a childbirth class and walked out a couple of hours into it. It was ridiculous. The videos were from like the 70s or 80s with big HAIRY bushes. Then they did a meditation to a video with like rainbows and crazy music. I had enough, and was out. LOL.

We are not. There are no free child birth classes in the state, my insurance doesnt cover them, and we cant afford $200 for them. I have seen quite a few live births though.

After 2 miscarriages and many prayers, our angel is here:)

Same here. Figure the books and the hospital tour will get us through. Plus It was too much money and I would rather spend it on something for the baby.
My DH has no interest either, and I'm only marginally interested so we're also opting out. But we are taking BFing and child preparedness classes.
I know a few coping and breathing techniques that work for me and have read a few books so I don't think I'll be totally helpless or surprised. Plus, while I have no doubt that these classes can absolutely help you prepare, women have been giving birth for generations without taking birthing classes and in the end, I'm sure we'll all get through it.
We are not taking classes at all. This is my second child and DH doesn't really have the desire to pay for the classes that he doesn't want to go to. I am OK with that as well though. I too would rather spend the money on something for the baby.
I didn't take any with my last pregnancy. I figure I watched a lot of Baby Story and I was in the room when my best friend had her daughter so I kinda knew what to expect.
This time I'm taking the breastfeeding course. I did with my son, but that was almost 8 years ago, so I'm taking it as a little refresher. I'm also doing the L and D tour because that wing of the hospital is new.

We're not. I've got a book that has been really helpful and lots of friends to give me advice. My OB wasn't concerned that we weren't taking it. He said you can end up having such little control over the birth anyway since babies, you know, do what they want, that many of things you "learn" you will not be able to use. My OB is SUPER laid-back (which I like, because I am NOT), so he is not overly interested in the whole classes and birth plan thing.
We aren't doing them. We were going to do them but had a family emergency and had to cancel and we weren't able to get into another open class. I rented a DVD at the library which was mildly helpful.
My DH was in grad school and couldn't go to classes when I was pregnant with my first. The only things that would have been beneficial were to know what to expect with my body postpartum and what kind of follow up appts. I needed. My OB office could have told me that had they been good, but they weren't. I would recommend a breastfeeding class though if you are planning on doing that. It's something you could go to by yourself.

That is the funniest thing I have ever heard!!!
Nope we didn't take one last time and we did just fine!

Your not alone! We aren't doing them either. I also have no idea how to deliever a baby, but i feel confident that I'll have plenty of support and directions from my OB and the hospital staff.
We aren't doing them either. We are only taking a baby care basics class for after we bring her home (omg.what.do.we.do.with.this.thing)...:)
The way I see it, your body is going to birth a child whether you've got the most knowledge or the least knowledge. The nurses have been around the block more than once and will tell you everything you need to know.
I didn't take any classes with my DS and I won't with this one. Labour can be so unpredictable, you can't plan for everything anyway. I felt if I had a vision of what i wanted it to be like I'd end up disappointed. The nurses told me how to breathe, how to push and the dr told me when to push. What did I really need to learn. Plus I ended up wth a c-section anyway.

I am only taking the Infant CPR class. My mom is taking it with me, and I think it would be a great idea for my sister to join. I have a feeling that childbirth is not going to be "normal" for me, and honestly, I've read enough/seen enough videos that nothing they tell me in a childbirth class would be new. Also, as far as the BFing classes go, I was told by almost everyone that took one that it was too general and that they got more information from the hospital's lactation consultant since it was tailored directly to them. I was going to the L&D tour, but the nurses already know and recognize me and I've seen pretty much everything there so I think I'm good on that...
We aren't doing a class either. I wanted to do a Bradley class but it's too expensive and DH has no interest. I wanted him to take a "Daddy 101" class since it's free and he said no. However I've watched a ton of videos and read about 10 books on the subject so I feel a little better. How prepared can you be though?
We will be taking a CPR/First Aid course because my brother teaches it so that will be good. I've also been reading and watching videos on breastfeeding so I won't take a class for that either. Our hospital offers a free "clinic" for after the baby is born where you meet with a lactation consultant as many times as you need to get help. If we have issues I will be taking advantage of that.

This. I can't see paying so much for something my body KNOWS how to do. When I get there, it will come naturally!

I am not doing it but I am looking online at videos and my friend bought me a wonderful book that has been very amazing.
This is a helpful video and the book I am reading is Great Expectations Your all in One Resource for Pregnancy & Childbirth.

I have learned a lot from both of these and it has made me rethink how I would like to do things.

TTC #2 since 7.12
We're not, the cost seems ridiculous to me and maybe we're immature but I feel like DH and I would have a hard time taking it seriously.
I was considering taking the tour but then we spent two days in L&D and now I feel like I have the lay of the land.
