Re: i have had it!

  • yeah - why isn't your husband up with her or at least taking turns?

also - yikes - sorry you all had such a rough night.

  • Sorry it was such a rough night. Why couldn't dh get up instead of you? That is so not cool.
  • Did you ask him to get up and he refused? Or did he have no clue you were getting up so much? Either way, it's no good, but make sure you're making your expectations and needs clear to him. This is one where I would have given him the baby at 1am and said "hey I have an early class and need to get at least some sleep, please take over for a while".
  • Yeah, there would have been no asking in my household in this situation, I would have been telling DH that he is on baby detail and that waking me up was not an option, lol. If he is a SAHD, he is on nighttime baby detail, end of story.
  • DH stays at home (he got laid off while I was pregnant and is still looking for work) and I work.  We share the nights because we both need a break.  So, I would tell your DH that you need to take turns or cut the night in half.
  • Some great advice I received... make sure you and your hubby discuss the overnight schedule BEFORE you go to bed at night.

I learned from experience that having the schedule worked out ahead of time (i.e. take turns with feedings, or "i'll get up tonight if you get up tomorrow night", etc.) works SO much better than the two of you arguing and yelling at each other at 3 in the morning because you're both tired and neither one of you wants to get up.  Then everyone suffers, including your LO!  Just hash it out ahead of time and it should go much smoother from here on out.
