Possible move to Bloomington

My husband just got an email about a possible job offer in Bloomington. We will find out on Monday hopefully what the offer is. We currently live in Seattle. :) Anyways I have a couple questions.

If you work in Bloomington where are some good places to live? We want to rent for about 6 months to a year before we buy. We are looking for an easy commute if possible.

Can you recommend a pediatrician in the areas? I love my pediatrician now since he is in a small practice. He let me bring Keegan in monthly for shots so Keegan only had to get 1 a month.

I probabaly have more questions once the offer is final.

Thank You :)

Re: Possible move to Bloomington

  • Bloomington is accessible so if your DH gets a job there, there are many nice areas that are close. That being said, there is def. a good/bad side of Bloomingtion. You would want to live in WEST Bloomington. Other areas that would be close and nice include:

    -Shakopee

    -Eden Prairie

    -Edina

A little further away would be:

    -Plymouth

    -Wayzata

    -Minnetonka

I have been pleased with my peds office- South Lake Peds.

    Good luck!

  • Like PP, I would search those areas, but also look into:

South Minneapolis, Richfield, East Bloomington, Burnsville, Lakeville

I would definitely try to search in the south west area of the twin cities because with traffic and rush hour, it could take awhile to commute.  If I were you, I would pull up a city map of the twin cities area and look at a realtor website to see what price ranges and what areas appeal most to you.

I am just starting to look for a pediatrician for my baby and I am almost positive we are going to go with Southdale Peds, which has three offices around or close to Bloomington (https://www.southdalepeds.com/)

Let us know if you want any more info.

  • I live in Burnsville and its a quick drive to Bloomington. Bloomington has lots of things to do, I would suggest west bloomington or south bloomington(close to burnsville). Depending on were in Bloomington he would be working prior lake might be an option too, its a quick jump on hwy 169. There are a few bad spots close to richfield, not terrible just not ideal for a family. You can also look at Eagan and Apple Valley.
