Has anyone here made them? How are they? We are tailgating at the Carolina vs. Arkansas game and I am in charge of desserts. I think these sound perfect for tailgating.

I've made them and actually liked them even though I'm not a whiskey fan.
Funny story about that night though- I made them for a party. There was a chick who came with a friend of mine that I had never met. Actually I don't think anyone had met her.
She had one of the cupcakes, liked it, and then asked what they were called.
Not thinking anything of it I told her- Irish car bomb cupcakes.
She went apeshiit. Started crying and screaming and in general pitching a royal fit. Apparently some distant relative of hers had been killed in a car bomb, in Ireland.
I just stood there rather stunned and couldn't figure out what the hell what my reaction should be. Awful as it sounds- I really wanted to laugh. That sucks for her relative but oh my god, it was excessive.
Fuuck TTC - I'm moving on.

Lol, I was gonna say - just call them car bomb cupcakes. If you say that about an Irish person (like my DH's family), you might get an earful.
It was one of those situations that defines "awkward".
People were just standing around watching her have a complete breakdown.
How has a person in their late 20's never heard of Irish car bombs?

They are DH"s favorite cupcake. I made the ones by Annie's Eats, no whiskey, so I guess they are more Guinness and Baileys cupcakes, but YUM none the less.
Can someone link to a recipe they've used before? I'm supposed to be bringing desserts tomorrow to a dinner and might do these after reading all the rave reviews!

I threw those out and tried again. I habe not put them in the oven yet, but this batter looks much thicker (the last batch was super runny). I probably left something important out of the first batch, like flour lol. IDK what I did, but I hope these turn out better. The batter tastes super yummy at least.

They're kind of a PITA to make, but SO worth it. They don't last long, that's for sure.
Now I want to make them.
ETA: And Mandy, only you would end up with a story like that.
