Tire Places

I need new tires.  Got them at Sears last time but was curious where you guys have found the cheapest prices?

A tire place like Adirondack Tire or Mavis Discount Tire?

A general chain auto place like Sears or Monro?

Or an independent place like a LaBarge auto?

These things are so frickin' expensive - I hate buying them!  lol

Happy Friday everyone, and TIA!

Re: Tire Places

  • Do you guys have Dunn tire? That or BJ's is our go to places for tires....out the door prices! Sears adds so many silly fees!
  • Loading the player...
  • We don't have a Dunn, but do have BJ's.  Do they put them on for you as well?  Or do you just buy them from there and you have to get them put on elsewhere?

  • I'm looking, too. Hydroplaning yesterday in Niskayuna is making me step up the effort. So far, I've only called Adirondack Tire, and the guy I spoke too was really helpful. I asked him about what I was looking for and about a particular tire that I was interested in. He told me I didn't necessarily need the one I had asked for (which was really $$) and suggested a good tire for my price range. I'm going to call Warren Tire as well, mainly because they have a location very close to my house. I figured calling actual tire places may be more beneficial since that's what they know what to do. I'm a little hesitant with going to Sears, even though I could get my mom's discount. Don't know why, but just leary of them.
  • Oh, and my dad went through Sam's in Latham and had a good experience. He went looking there for me since I don't have a membership, and unfortunately I'd need to special order any tire I would need.
  • BJs puts them on and everything! If you are a member, check out their website for possible coupons too!

I was very happy with BJs, good prices. They don't carry a lot of options but do have good, better and best.

  • Thanks, ladies!

  • DH buys ours at Sams.  He says they are cheaper there than other places, but I don't know to what extent he price-shopped.

(We do have a free trial BJs membership right now, but didn't last time he bought tires, so I don't know if this would change things).

  • We get ours online.  You can bring them to any tire place and they will put them on your car for between 10-15 dollars a tire.  The discounts on line are significant, and some of the websites include free shipping.
  • We went to JD's Tire Warehouse on Central last weekend for our tires, and we're going to go again for our winter tires on the other car. I looked up the tires on Consumer Reports and saw that they have the ones I wanted.
