GroBaby leaking...what am I doing wrong?

When I tried this diaper on DD, it leaked pee all up her back.  I checked to make sire it was on tight enough & I don't think that was the issue.  Could the rise have been too short?  Any ideas?

    Make sure the insert is completely in the shell. Sometimes a little bit hangs out so I have to tuck it in. I always roll DS to the side so I can check the back of the diaper.

    Did you prep the inserts enough?  I did my customary six washes, but I found that I needed more like 10 to get the inserts to full absorbency.  Also, if the pee came up the back I'm guessing the rise was too short; might want to try unsnapping.

    I *think* I prepped them enough!  I did 6+, and some of them were gently used from JD, so I'd assume they'd be prepped before I got them.  I'll try running them through again when I get more prefolds from GMD.  Good idea.  I thought the rise was probably too short too, but figured I'd ask - since I am at the beginning of the learning curve!

    the first time we used the grovia, the same thing happened. i could never figure out why. it was a fluke. never happened again. not sure how the middle of his back got wet!
