Hawaii Babies

feeling a bit slack

Ben and I both have nasty colds, so we went ahead and packed the boys off to their carer today (they haven't shown any signs of being sick, so cross fingers and send vibes that it stays that way).

Totally the right thing to do - we're both struggling just to get ourselves through the day - but I still feel vaguely guilty that I'm sitting at home and not taking care of them. But being able to rest all day will help us get better faster, right? Right. Yes

  • Absolutely!!!  I had to do the same thing a week and a half ago.  I was sent home from work with a fever at 11:00am, but left Henry at daycare until 5:30pm.  I needed to rest, but mostly I wanted to spare him my germs as long as possible.  It seems to have worked since he (knock on wood!) hasn't gotten sick.

Yeah, this is the other concern - I know they've already been exposed at this point, but I figure it can't hurt to keep a little distance just for the day.

  • exposure is all about dosing too so if there is a lower dose of virus particles, their immune systems may be better able to fight it off than at a higher dose.

don't feel bad, you need to rest!

  • Get well soon!!! I'd do the same thing, if I were in your (red)shoes.  Last week, my hubs had a cough/cold and he kept himself quarantined from little K - it was tough, but thankfully, we never got sick.  Hope you and your hubby were able to get some rest!

  • oh yes, you're just a horrible mother for sending them away so they don't get sick! LOL

Totally the right thing to do!!!

You get time to get better, and they get someone who has the energy and patience to care for them and play with them.  Win-win!!

  • you totally did the right thing!

I get random days off work here and there and I use to keep Jack home with me no.matter.what.  but lately I have been taking him in at least 1/2 the day.  We pay for it by the month, so we may as well use it.  I do wonder what the teachers/other parents think when I drop him off in my gym attire.  hah.
