This is a weekly check in where ladies who are dealing with a low supply of breastmilk can share their successes and get support for their challenges and difficult days.
If you are looking for supply boosting ideas here is a link to a great post that JenniferJaneC posted rating all of the supply boosters she has tried. Here is a recipe for lactation cookies and here is a recipe for lactation banana bread.
Here is the link to the Motherlove webpage. They are the makers of More Milk Plus and More Milk Special Blend. There is also a store locator on their site so you can find the closest place to you to buy it.
How are you doing this week ladies?
Re: Low Supply Check-In
Lets see...last week I got mastitis, this week I got a yeast infection in my boobs, my supply totally dropped and I freaked out and bought more domperidone, but I think it only feel because I was sick, because it sort if bounced back, although lower than before, and now I am back on dom.
Side note- a girlfriend of mine had some domperidone in preparation for her baby being born so I am "borrowing" hers until mine arrives from inhouse. HER domperidone came to them in a little plastic baggie with all the pills loose inside of it. Where else do you ladies buy your dom that it looks like that? I knew it was safe because her partner had already taken some and she had no side effects and started lactating.
Had some drama yesterday when my pump quit first thing in the morning. I have a hand pump, but knew there would be no way I could match my normal output.
I put a call in to a local breastfeeding supply store, and they not only had a pump to rent to me, but they delivered it to my work! It wasn't until after lunch that I got it, and stupidly, hadn't brought my supplies with me, so I tried to catch up after LO had gone to bed.
I managed to get enough to make 2 of her 3 daycare bottles, and had a bag in my freezer stash to make up the 3rd.
Today is looking like my supply has dropped just a little - I've pumped about 4oz so far. (3 pumping sessions)
We shall see - I really don't want to have to switch to formula this close to a year, we go to the doc on the 15th, so he'll voice his opinion then!
Doing all right. DD2 actually STTN last night for the first time in months!
I woke up before she did b/c I was full and uncomfortable, but then she nursed as much as she wanted and I still pumped almost five ounces afterwards! That's huge for me, I think it's the most I've ever pumped.
I'm keeping up with a low dose of fenugreek (6 capsules/day) and I think that's helping me maintain things. DD2 is back to wanting all of her daily 6-oz pumped bottle (for awhile she was only drinking 3-4 oz of it). She is getting very enthused about solids as well, so I'm feeling like there's a little less pressure on being her sole food source. Most days I'm only doing 2-3 pumping sessions instead of 4-5 to get that 6-oz bottle, which is a definite improvement.
Overall, I'm feeling pretty positive. We're going to be heading home for my sister's wedding in a few weeks and I'm not sure how that's going to go, with squeezing in pumping and nursing and DD2's daily bottle (she really loves it, so skipping it will not go over well) and I'm a little nervous about that.
But at least I'm going into it from a good place, and hopefully it'll go smoothly.

Things had been going so well but my dom ran out on Monday am and the new shipment that we ordered nearly 10 days ago hasn't arrived yet. Stupid of me to wait so long before re-ordering. I do feel less full but so far it doesn't seem to be a problem with LO (knocks on wood)--she fusses a little at the breast at times but when I offer her pumped BM from my freezer stash she refuses it. I'm hoping I still have an adequate supply to hold her over until it arrives any day now.
I do have mother's milk special blend but I think the fenugreek in it is what caused a lot of fussiness/diarrhea last week, so I don't want to resort to it unless desperate.
