What was your timing?

1. Did you do a trigger?

2. If you did a trigger, how long after did they do the IUI?

3. If you did a b2b IUI, how long after the trigger was the 2nd one?

4. How many follies did you have when you triggered and what size(s) were they?

My RE said their normal practice is to trigger in the AM if my follies are mature, and they consider between 20 and 25 mature. Then I go in 24 hours later for the 1st IUI. At that time they look to see if I've O'd and if I haven't, they bring me back the next day 24 hours later for the 2nd IUI.

4. 4 follies at 18-20ish. Got pregnant with twins.

Thanks Nikki. Were you on injectibles then? I'm just going to be doing Clomid (I forget which days). We're 100% oop so wanted to try the regular medication cycles first, and RE said he didn't want to move to injectibles until he sees how I respond.

I did 4, triggered with all of them. (Actually triggered a fifth time for my first Clomid cycle). One of the cycles I IUI'd 24 hours after, but the other were all 36. I had between 2 and 3 winners each cycle, but I can't remember their sizes.

None of them worked, but I also didn't have an ovulatory issue that were were correcting for. I was/am unexplained and we found success with IVF.

Yes I was on injectables. Clomid didn't work for me alone so the cycle that worked I was on Clomid, Folistim and Menopur.

I did 3 IUIs all with 100mg of clomid and a trigger shot. My clinic performed IUIs 36 hours after trigger.

My 1st cycle I had 2 follicles (not sure size), my second I had 4 (12,13,17.and 18) and my third I had 2 (19 & 22). On my second they counted the 12 and 13 since they would be 14 and 15 at time of IUI.

Thanks LTF. Curious - why did they start you on 100mg? I thought 50mg of Clomid was standard to start?

I just got back from my 2nd IUI. I triggered yesterday morning @ 10. I have 3 follicles, they were 16mm on Monday. No clue how big they are today but I have quite a bit of pain in my pelvic area. My Dr. thought it was a good sign.

4. How many follies did you have when you triggered and what size(s) were they? one or two follies, size ranged from 18-27mm

We did 4 IUIs. The first two were not using any medication to grow my follies (so no clomid or anything), but we did do monitoring and triggered in order to get the timing right.

For the second two IUIs we added clomid. The first time on clomid I took 100mg on CDs 5-9. I'm not sure why he started me out on 100 mg, but I know that starting clomid on CD 5 (instead of CD 3) leads to fewer follies, but better quality follies. I had one mature follie and got pregnant that cycle, but had an early m/c. I then did two more cycles on clomid, but did not do IUIs because I kept ovulating earlier and earlier (CD 10!) and we missed O and didn't get to do the IUIs. So, my RE switched me to 50mg clomid CD 3-7, triggered on CD9, and did the IUI on CD10. I had two mature follies that cycle and got pregnant with my daughter.

I was started on 100 mg. Just what my RE wanted to do. I hope Clomid works for you...injectibles are stupid $$$.

Mainer - I've heard that before about the CD3-7 vs CD5-9 thing too. Maybe I will ask for CD4-9? I mean, I've love one or 2 good quality follies, but then again I'd love more follies to increase the chances. But then again I'm afraid of too many follies bc of the possibility of multiples.

I just can't win.

I took my 100mg on CD 4-8. My dr said he had better sucess with 100mg so he started patients off at that level if there were no other known issues which would lead them to believe you are going to over respond.

2. If you did a trigger, how long after did they do the IUI? 42 hours for the successful one, 28-30 hours for the unsuccessful one. RE thought the first one was done too early.

3. If you did a b2b IUI, how long after the trigger was the 2nd one? we only did one IUI each cycle

4. How many follies did you have when you triggered and what size(s) were they? 17mm, 18mm and 20mm, i think - i did gonal-f and ganirelix and got pregnant with twins.

yes triggered.

Always triggered at "9:30pm SHARP" (RE was very strict about this) - and I once had to do my trigger at Disneyland cuz well, we were still there. LOL. We would return to the RE around 9am 2 mornings later for IUI (36 hours)

didn't do any b2b.

I did 5 IUIs and had varying amounts of follies. I think between 3 and 6. (I have the info about each of the protocols on each of my cycles and how many follies still in the "bio" on here - click on my avatar and scroll down)

Do you think my REs protocol of b2b (24 hours after and 48 hours after) is pretty common then? I hate second guessing an expert. =(
