Thrush help

I posted on the BFing board too.

I think I have thrush. Do I have to go to the dr and get meds or can I do something without meds?

We just moved and I don't have a dr yet.

Re: Thrush help

  • Ohh, thrush sucks.  I feel for you.  I used a prescribed cream for me and prescribed drops for the baby, since both need to be treated.  So it was a doctor visit.  BF got soooo much better after it was treated.

  • Ugh, sorry michelle :(

When I had it, the dr prescribed my diflucan, and a topical cream.

  • Yes, go get medicine for you and the baby.  Even with the medicine it took forever for the pain to decrease and go away.  I researched diet changes too because the meds didn't help all that much. Good luck.

  • You can paint your boobies and the baby's mouth with gentian violet. It's not prescription, but you need to get it from the pharmacist.

I was a martyr to thrush-- it took MONTHS to get rid of it with each kid. I recommend going to www.kellymom.com and searching for the thrush protocol.

    Good luck.
