S/O Bills: What do you pay for cable/internet...

I am just curious, because it seems that we pay way too much. We pay $200 per month (this includes high speed internet and most of the HD/movie channels).

Is this ridic, or do pay close to the same?

Re: S/O Bills: What do you pay for cable/internet...

  • We pay $50 for internet and $86 for Direct TV. It could be lower, but we have to have all of the HD sports channels Big Smile
  • Loading the player...
  • around the same but that covers a landline telephone too!
  • Around $100/month for cable w/DVR (no fancy channels or HD) and internet.

  • We pay $135 for AT&T Uverse. It's fiberoptics cable and internet service. We have  decent but not the fastest option for internet (still pretty fast to me) and an additional movie package for TV and HD services for 2 TVs (3 total in our house) plus DVR in one room.
  • We pay about $120 a month for high speed internet and cable (includes HD channels but no movie channels or DVR)
  • We pay $120 a month for high speed internet and HD TV but with no special channels.
  • We pay between $185-$195.00 a month for our cable & internet, but we have all the HBO channels.

  • We pay $160-165ish for The Comcast Bundle w/ internet, phone, & cable. We cancelled the movie channels because we hardly ever watched them.

  • We have DISH and we pay $55 a month. We don't have home phones, both have company paid cell phones, and we don't have the internet at our house, since we get it on our cell phones. We have looked into getting the internet at our house and thru DISH it was definitely the least expensive.

Totally off-topic, but our dogs are twins :) What kind is she? We rescued a golden-doodle running alongside the highway, and we named her Lexi, too.

  • We pay $165 for cable and internet. We have 2 DVR boxes, every channel possible, extra HD box. But we own our house and it is a 3 family. Our tenants pay $50 a month for their internet and cable and they don't need a separate plan. So in a sense we pay $65 for everything on TV.

I would never give up my DVR. I work too much and have such random hours that I would miss my shows.

Really?! Too funny! She's a goldendoodle, too. She's 4 months right now.

There is a couple in our town that has a goldendoodle named Lexi that is 3 years old. We were walking our puppy when we first got her and ran into them. They were both afraid of each other! haha! It was crazy to think our puppy would get that big but she's already over 30 pounds!

  • We were at just about $200 but decided to drop all of the premium channels, since there is never anything on them anyway!  So now we're down to about $100 for cable and $55 for internet and phone.

Awww, that's so funny that they were scared of each other! The vet says ours is 8-10 years old and she's 21 pounds. We didn't know what she was at first, but all of the goldendoodle pictures I have googled look just like her! I adore her, she is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever known. We were paying around $200 a month for phone, internet & HD cable (no movie channels but asport pack)+ DVR through direct tv/verizon but switched a couple months ago.  We now have Comcast and have everything we had before plus HBO for only $125/month.

This, but we do have HD channels. I think they're just included no matter what though. They were there before we had our HDTV I think.

Same here. When I think of things that we can cut back on, cable is at the top of the list, but to DH it is a necessity.

  • Wowee!!  $200!!!??

We paid $100 and had all the basic channels plus some bonus ones, but no movi channels.  We also had high speed internet.  You can call every year or so and tell the company that you'd like to either be given their special of the season or you'll cancel... and cancelling is no big deal, just go with another company if they call your bluff.

DH and I haven't had cable in about a year or something.  We get Netflix and watch what we missed on network websites or hulu.  If you have a tv with an S-video cable, you can hook your laptop to your tv and watch on the bigger screen.

We love not having to pay for cable, just internet. :]

  • We pay $115 with Comcast, which includes HD, HBO, Starz, and cable internet.

Don't be afraid to call and threaten to cancel...they will usually offer you a good deal if you do that.
