Was it harder to lose weight after your 2nd child?

I'm having a rough time, and it's starting to get to me.

With my first son, I didn't really try to lose weight soon afterwards, but once I did put forth an effort, I lost it quickly. When I got pregnant with Cooper, I actually weighed less than I did when I got married.

Now, I can't seem to lose the weight. I know I need to work out more, but I don't think my eating is out of control. But I can't seem to lose. In fact I'm gaining. I'm 5lbs away frommy heaviest weight.

Did you find it was harder to lose the weight after the 2nd baby?

  • yes... but part of my problem is that I started working nights.  I've steadily gained since then.  with my first I was at my prepg weight at 7m pp... with ds, I still had 10lb to go  at 9m.. .then started the night shift. I've put on 20 lb since starting this job.

  • Yes, but I also have other factors so I can't lay blame on just one thing. After DS1, I was able to get up early and work out every morning, but they go to a different school now and my morning and afternoon commute is over an hour each way. I would have to wake up at 5:30am to be able to work out in the mornings again, and yeah that's just not gonna happen. I'm also on anti-deps now which I wasn't before, and with working full time and two kids I'm just too darn tired to eat right as often as I should. In fact, things have recently gotten worse, and I'm back up to my 6 week PP weight after #2. I feel like a miserable fat-ass.
  • Yes!!! I still have 10 lbs to lose. Bleh.

  • Yes. I feel like I don't have any time for exercise.  I am looking forward to going back to work mainly for the reason that I get to walk.  Just that little bit of exercise motivates me to want to exercise more.

I am down to my pre pregnancy weight, but was working on losing weight when I got pregnant.  Ideally, I'd love to lose about 30 pounds.

  • Yes but I also gained more with #2. It took me a full year and weight watchers to lose the 40 pounds I gained. With #1 I had lost the 30 pounds within 3 months and didn't do anything. By The time Lucy was 6 months I was 10 pounds under prepregnancy weight. So I was ticked to not have the same experience the second time.

  • Yes.  I was a little up on my wieght when I got my 1st BFP thanks to an out of wack thyroid.  That was under control during my pregnancy and I quiuckly lost all but 10 pounds after my 1st was born.  Once I stopped nursing, the last 10 fell off plus more and I ended up at the weight I was when I got married.  #2 (gained the same amount of weight) has been a struggle.  I am still (2 1/2 years after #2 was born) about 10 pounds over the weight I was when I got pregnant.  Differences for me was I only nursed for a few weeks w/#2 and  I was 37 when she was born (will be 40 next month).  I excersize more now than I did before and I eat better overall but it is just not coming off.  I had a c=section with #2 and a vaginal birthy with #1.
