Maternity panties? needed or not so much.

I'm getting ready to buy some sleepwear for after my baby is here because we'll have family flying in to stay with Dh and I. My question is: Among the sleepwear, I see maternity panties. Is that really needed? Will I be more comfortable in maternity panties than my regular ones?

Re: Maternity panties? needed or not so much.

  • I can't imagine buying anything extra for after delivery.  I mean, a thong probably won't work so well when you're post-partum, but other than that, I'd think that if it was comfortable when you're the size of a house, they'll be comfortable while you're recovering.

The only other thing I can think is that with all the PP discharge loveliness, you might not want to be wearing your A-team favorites.  That's where my lovely Hanes-Her-Way Grannie Panties will be in regular rotation.

  • Get a pack of high wated ones on to chance you have a c-section. I had to stop at the mall on the way home and it was hard. I only had low rise and that hits right at the cut mark.
  • I have a good deal of comfortable 'regular' ones and have not purchased any maternity.
  • I think as long as you have some granny panties that fit those will be adequate.
  • Never used them either pg or pp with dd.  Steal some of the mesh ones the hospital uses for the first few days home, then just switch back to your regular ones (old ones would be best b/c of the bleeding).
  • I don't think they are needed.

  • I've just bought 1 size bigger for now and plan on getting a couple packs of cheapie grannie panties at Walmart for post-baby.
  • I wear bikini underwear.  I've been told to get some larger panties for after - because of the pads you'lll be wearing.  I also dont' really want to ruin my existing underwear, so I probably will by some larger ones for after that I don't care if they get ruined.
