I am trying to have only Made in the USA products on my registery and in my nursery but am having a hard time finding consistant brands that would be easily available in larger chain stores for purchase. Any suggestions? It is heartbreaking to see just how much baby stuff out there is imported from countries that have very questionable safety standardas.
I think you're going to have a hard time at BRU or Target, etc. Might want to try Amazon. I registered there and was very happy with it. It worked out best for me because I live far from my family and most people shipped gifts (and got free shipping), but if you don't have a crowd who shops online it might not work for you.
The book Baby Bargains has info about furniture made in the US. For toys, Haba and Plantoys are made in the US.
I actually don't think you can make the entire registry at one place all USA items, because there really are not many USA products out at traditional stores.Believe me, I read every.single.label. and it just isn't out there. It makes me sad.
You might want to check Etsy.com for handmade/vintage items.
Britax and Evenflo make (at the very leat partially) Made in USA carseats.
I recently started a blog that you might enjoy following- the focus is on items NOT made in China. If you want to follow the blog click my siggy to go there.
Here are some links for USA items. sorry, some wouldn't go clicky for me
I would definitely second PP about registering on amazon - while some people prefer a brick and mortar store, amazon just gives you so much more freedom to pull from a number of websites -your friends and family can buy the item anywhere and mark it as bought -
