Hi everyone,
I am pregnant with my first child I just got put on bedrest yesterday for pregnancy induced hypertension (the doctor said that I "don't have preeclampsia... yet" but that I'm moving in that direction. My mom had severe preeclampsia with me and I was born at 33 weeks, so I know how quickly this can progress.
The doctor said I might end up delivering within the next week or two, although hopefully with bedrest I can keep LO inside for a while longer. I know I am lucky to be this far along before having any problems, and that even if I deliver soon, 34/35 week babies do very well. It's just thrown me for a loop since I was not expecting to be meeting my little guy for over a month! Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. Take care ladies!

Re: introducing myself... looks like I might be having a preemie
i had PIH, too, and was put on bedrest at about 32weeks. i ended up back in the hosptial and he hadn't grown in 2 weeks so i was induced and he was born at 34w1d. we were so upset in the beginning, but check out the chunker in my siggy now -- everything turned out perfectly for us in the long run. he was in the nicu for 3 weeks before he got to come home -- we both felt so much more confident when he came home... it made me so nervous to hold him in the beginning, and we didn't let our parents hold him until he came home. (selfish? probably.... we didn't care though). turns out that 30% of my placenta had no bloodflow to it and the doctors believe that is what caused the hypertension and IUGR. my bp has been back to normal since august (maybe longer -- i had my gall bladder removed in mid aug and it was so nice to see low numbers again! lol)
Good luck to you -- this is such a great board and all of the ladies here are super supportive!
