Okay, DH and I both run. I know that you can't run with a baby in a jogger until around 6 months of age. That is fine.
DH and I both feel that a travel system is the way to go for us (Chicco Cortina or Graco Quattro Tour Deluxe), but then I started wondering about joggers. I know that they sell adapters for them so you can attach an infant seat. Does this mean that you can essentially use them as a travel system? Not to run, but as an every day stroller for trolling the mall?
For some reason I've been under the impression that joggers were too big and cumbersome to use in places like the mall and zoo, but maybe I'm wrong?
Would you recommend a travel system and a jogger, or getting a jogger (like the BOB Revolution) and just getting the adapter and using it as a travel system?
Maybe this is a stupid question, but I'm a first time mom, so humor me. lol

I think it depends on how 'serious' of a jogger you're looking at or need.
We purchased a travel system for the first six months or so and will get a jogger in the spring.
A jogger with a front swivel wheel can be used at the mall as it's better for maneuvering, etc. Because of the activities we do (running and rollerblading) we're going to go with a fixed front wheel jogger which would be way too difficult to maneuver at the mall or on outings.
Hope that helps!
We plan on getting the Baby Jogger City Mini and not a "travel system". It folds up VERY well (seriously, watch the video!)
and you can buy an adapter for the carseat.

Yes, this. If you do plan to use it as your only "mall" stroller, definitely get one with a swivel wheel option, like the BOB. We have a single fixed wheel (DH is a serious runner and wanted a fixed wheel only) and there is no way we could use it at the mall. It's just not maneuverable. But we also have a double BOB (with an adapter) that would work well in a store aside from the giant size (no way the double BOB works well in a smaller store).
Anyhow, if you are willing to put up with a bit more bulk and have the trunk space, the jogger with adapter would probably be fine as your only stroller. It is definitely larger and heavier than many other stroller/adapter combos. Personally, however, I wanted to have a more regular stroller for errands. I hated all the "traditional" travel systems and went with a smaller regular stroller with an adapter bar. We have the Maclaren Techno XLR, which is awesome and is rated (with or without bar) for newborns. It's not teeny, but still much smaller than the giant travel systems (I'm thinking Graco and similar). There are definitely many options now.
GL! It really comes down to lifestyle and personal preference.
I'm embarrassed to list all of the strollers I have owned for one child but here goes: Snap-N-Go, Chicco Cortina, BOB Sport Utility (fixed wheel), BOB Revolution (fixed and swivel), City Mini, McClaren Triumph, Schwinn Free Wheeler.
Based on what you are looking for, I would recommend starting with the BOB Revolution and the Snap-N-Go. IMHO, you simply can't go wrong or be disappointed with the Revolution. I find it far less cumbersome than the Cortina. It doesn't fold up as easy or nice as the City Mini, but it maneuvers as well, if not better. You can't jog with the City Mini, so you'd have to add a jogging stroller if you went that route.
I LOVED the Snap-N-Go. The convenience, size, parent tray, huge basket - all awesome.
If you find that the BOB isn't working for you in all situations, you could test drive some smaller strollers once your LO is old enough to sit up comfortably. But the BOB and Snap-N-Go would fit the bill for quite some time.
Also, you might want to think about if/when you plan on having another child. I now have to add double strollers to my collection and wish something like the City Select had been available two years ago.
ETA: If you are going with a Chicco infant seat, it will not fit the current BOB adapter. The new BOB Revolution (2011) will reportedly have an adapter compatible with the Chicco seats. I have called BOB and they won't say when to expect them in stores, though. My guess would be late winter, early spring of 2011.
Just an FYI if you are actually going to run or jog, the Baby Jogger City Mini is NOT a jogging stroller. I think it consfuses people because Jogger is in the name. Baby Jogger does make true jogging strollers, but the City Mini is not one of them.
I would wait until you can actually use a jogger to purchase one, get a snap n go for now, they are lightweight and easy to deal with.
