IUI #2 Cancelled Today =(

I went in for my follie check after taking another round of Clomid 100mg/day. US showed 5 mature follies w/ the leading one measuring at 21!! Weird thing was all 5 were in one ovary. Has this happened to anyone where only one ovary produced eggs?

My RE highly recommended waiting this cycle out because of the risk of multiples and put me on BCPs. Needless to say I'm disappointed. Has anyone had their IUI cancelled due to producing too many eggs?

I did not have this experience- but at least you know you are a good responder! 5 is way too many to trigger for IUI. I don't know if my re would do it with more than 3.

I'm sorry, that sucks. Better to be safe than sorry. Maybe they get lower your dose next time. I was lucky to get one maybe two follies.

...hugs... sorry your IUI has been cancelled. I haven't had that happen, but I had an IVF converted to IUI which I was totally bummed about. Hopefully next cycle will be your lucky one. Hang in there dear.

I'm so sorry you got cancelled. I don't understand the multiple risk but I don't know anything about IUI. Can someone help me understand that?

my first IUI was almost cancelled for this reason. As pp said, the good news is you are a good responder.

Since there are 5 mature eggs there is potential for all eggs to be fertilized. So potential for 5 babies (eek!). Although that is unlikely to happen, my RE didn't recommend that we gamble, especially since we're not comfortable w/ selective reduction.

I think you made a good decision. I understand how much it sucks to have cycles canceled (my last 2 cycles have been canceled), but it's definitely better to play it safe.

My last cycle I produced two mature follicles both on one side. My other side didnt have any mature follicles. I though this was because you ovulate from different sides each month. I dont know if that is true or would explain the follicles all being on one side.

I'm so sorry...that stinks...((HUGS)). In response to your question about only producing follies on one side, my past two IUI's I only had follies on the right, this is the first cycle where I have one on each side. It's not uncommon to only have follies on one side. With unmedicated cycles you only ovulate from ovary at a time any way, it can switch back and forth with every other cycle or if you're like me, it'll be on one side for several months and then switch the other side for several months and so on.
