3rd Trimester

"When are you due?" vent.

I'm due in January.

Oh what day.

GAH! BABIES DON'T COME ON A SPECIFIC DAY! They come when they darn well feel like it. I'm due in January. The day doesn't really matter.

Am I the only person that is bothered by this question. ?

Re: "When are you due?" vent.

  • Maybe. I just always say late January when people ask.

    Oh gosh. haha.

  • I always say the end of November. I've had a few people then ask "What day exactly?" and I always wonder why it matters.
  • I now get to say "next month"! which is fabulous.

I seriously hear this question 30 times a day. Not even kidding- that's about how many patients I see, and they ALL ASK. ugh.

Then it's "is it your first" "what are you having" "what do you have now" "ooo a christmas baby maybe??"

    So effing irritating.

I also get a lot of  "well just dont have him on christmas" of course I dont want him to come a month early but really, perfect stranger, what would you like me to do if he does???

  • I started saying "at the end of January" because when I'd just say "January" I'd get "well, you should try to have her before the end of the year and get that tax deduction!"

Uh, no.  I don't think I'd *try* to have a premature baby for a tax break.  But, thanks.

HOLY EFFING COW! I jsut realized that I too can say next month... and that I am a like a month and 7 days away! OMG.... panick mode is now going to set in.

  • I usually said November.  People never asked what day cuz they were too busy telling me how huge I am, lol.  Now I just say, "Oh about 2 weeks", or "The 14th."  Now I get, "Oh, so any day now" in response.  Um, ok, sure.  :)

  • Now I simply get to say "Monday." And then watch as they recoil in horror as if I'm about to start gushing fluid right then and there.

  • I had someone say "any minute now" while cupping her hands at vagina level. I think she was trying to help catch the amniotic fluid?

  • I try to narrow it down a smidge more than a whole month. I say "around new year's" and let people take that for what they will. I do not share the actual date.  By at least giving the section of the month (early, mid, or late), it usually is enough to keep people satisfied.

  • Well, my original due date (as calculated by me) was Jan 3rd and based on a 13 week U/S was changed to Dec 28th. Now, of course, LO has measured at least a week behind ever since (so I was right.)

So I don't even know what month or year to tell people. I tell them "around New Year's" because I refuse to say Dec 28th and have people start bugging me early. Due dates are kind of annoying in general.

  • I usually say "Thanksgiving" because that is a few days after my due date and I really don't want people to start bugging me early.

  • I just say, "the week before Christmas, or thereabouts".  If people ask for the specific date, I'll tell them.  Usually it's because they or someone in their family has a b-day around then, and they want to share.  It doesn't bother me.

I don't think people expect that the baby will come ON the due date, but since everyone has been given a "due date", I don't think it's a weird question.  Also, there's a big difference between Jan 1st and 31st, so I think the question is actually a valid one.

I think there are way more annoying questions out there, for sure.

well i'm due mid jan. haha. So Jan pretty much sums it up.

I've had people specifically ask which date just so they can say "oh well my birthday is the 14th, so make sure you have him then, ok?"

    umm...sure?

  • Yeah I find it annoying when people ask me.  I say oh I'm due around the end of January then they tell me "No way you'll have that baby by Christmas look how huge you are".  I'm really glad I'm not the only one hearing stuff like this!  Like thanks I already feel huge I don't need you reminding me!

Okay, not to be snarky or anything but you are complaining about people asking about a specific day you are due yet you have a ticker that says how many weeks/days you are along and how many days you have left.  Isn't that a round about way of saying what day you are due?  You can say it in a ticker but not in a response to someone?  What is the big deal? I mean, a month is 28-31 days long.  Saying you are due in January is pretty vague...wide span of time don't you think?

    This!

  • My MIL drives me crazy with this.  But she asks every single time I see her if my due date has changed!  No it hasn't changed, and you should know that babies come when they are ready!!

Then this is usually followed up with "well so-and-so's bday is this day, and my bday is this day, that would be a good day to have him"

     BAH!!!!!!!!
