I finally started taking my shots 2 days ago! I had some issues with insurance so I was unable to start right after I received my prescription. It's not as bad as I expected it to be, but I'm still a little queasy about it!

I told DH that I was taking a pregnancy test so he was right in the next room when I found out. I simply walked out and said "It's positive!" but he refused to believe the results until I got a blood test to confirm it.

QOTW - I woke up 10 DPO to vomit (morning sickness started early and stayed late for me) so MH was waiting outside the bathroom door to make sure I was okay, I came out with a positive pregnancy test and surprised the heck out of him.

I walked out of the bathroom at his parents' house and said "It's positive" with a big smile on my face and waited for it to sink in and him give me a big hug.  He knew I was going to take it because I was a day late and I asked him to drop me off at the grocery store while he went to the bookstore because I didn't want to wait until we back home.

I got a picture frame that says, "I <3 Daddy" and a card. At first he didn't believe me or get it. He thought it was encouragement for the coming cycle. Then I showed him the digital test.

Spoke to the Dr and I'm going to be starting my shots next week.  I am concerned though that no one in the office can show me how to do them again.  I mean, I know it's not brain surgery... but it's been 4 years and I remember I had such a hard time (with stinging, bruising, courage!) the first time around that I want a "refresher" course.

Anybody do shots in their thighs?  That's where I did them last time but everything I'm reading so far is mentioning in the belly.

I was going to wait to tell DH on our anniversary but the day I tested we were going into the city to go to dinner and on the train and he asked me about going away and I kept saying "i don't know, lets wait and see... who knows where will be at that point"... with a grin on my face that I couldn't shake.  He guessed it right there!

He and the old man next to us who overheard the conversation were both very happy!

Hi Ladies. I would like to be added to the list. I got my prescription for lovenox today and will probably be starting tomorrow. I have 1 copy of FVL and 1 copy of the MTHFR.  I met with the high risk doctor today. Very nervous about starting the shots, but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry, right? Everyone says try icing the area first... any other tips?? Sigh.

I found out I was pregnant the day before DH's birthday. When he came home from work, I told him I had an early birthday surprise, and showed him the test. He was in shock, haha! :)

hi there! i'm on lovenox, twice daily, 60 mg each for factor V. i was put on it at week 5. i have a blood clot in my left eye, and after testing from the retina specialist and finding nothing, he sent me to a rheumatologist and she is the one that found it. my due date is may 23rd. i feel good, but i am absoultely sick of doing injections. obviously i'm thankful to be on the medication and know about my condition so early, but i hate sticking myself with needles everyday, twice a day. and there's nothing like the smell of an alcohol wipe first thing in the morning to get the day going! ugh! my stomach looks like a freaking pin cushion! i don't have any tips. i just think about the baby and how worth it these injections will be when i get to hold my little one. that makes it a little easier. and the fact that i'm lucky to have had it caught so early in the pregnancy. good luck to everyone!

QOTW-i did my first home test at 5:30 when i woke up. it said pregnant, but it was almost too good to be true. so i took a shower, got out and it still said pregnant. i couldn't stop smiling, and i absolutely couldn't hold it in, so at 6, i turned on the lamp, shook the hubby awake and showed him the test. it took him a minute to wake up and understand what was going on, but then he smiled and said that was exciting and gave me a hug and kiss, then i got ready for work. and of course took two more tests at work, just to be sure. :-)

My last pregnancy the dr had me doing them in the thigh.  Never mentioned anything in the belly.  Only after reading things on this board and googling what I could, because I feel I forgot a lot in 4 years, did I see that people were taking shots in the belly.  I'm wondering if it makes a difference... I'm assuming it still gets into the blood stream just the same.  I have a consultation with the high risk dr next week so I'll be asking again and see what they recommend.

I've been on Lovenox since week 12.  I've always done the shot in my belly but they have been stinging a lot more lately.  I'm not sure if it's the fact that I used to ice first and now am too impatient to do that trick, or if its because I'm getting bigger and there's less belly fat to use.  In any event, I started getting my shots in the butt today (thanks to DH), and they seem to be less irritating.  The area was still sore and sensitive for about 10 min afterwards but the injection and the meds itself seemed to sting less.

QOTW: DH and I were getting ready to go to a funeral (of all things) and we both needed some cheering up.  I took a HPT on a whim since I wasn't supposed to be able to get a BFP until the next day, but, it turned out to be positive a day early! This pregnancy has been special for us b/c we know we have a few guardian angels looking out for us.

I'm not PG but I just stopped by this board and I wish there were something like this when I was PG! I thought I was the only one dealing with the shots, etc. I have FVL and had a DVT long before becoming pregnant. I now have 2 healthy little girls, after 2 completely uneventful pregnancies and labors. The shots are not fun (esp. the heparin after 35 weeks, ugh) but once it's all said and done and you have that little baby in your arms, it's all worth it. :-) Good luck to all of you!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Its great to hear from someone who has been through it all and has had successful and uneventful pregnancies!

Thanks for giving us hope and good vibes :)

Hi! I just found out that I am pg with #2 this morning and have been to the dr this afternoon so I can start Arixtra tonight. My due date is July 8th right now but like previous pregnancy OB said we will induce 3 weeks early. Last pregnancy I was on Lovenox 2 times a day and Arixtra post partum while breast feeding until my hormone levels were back to normal. I have FVL but haven't had any incidents. I found out because my Mom had an incident while I was in college.

QOTD: We had been trying for a few months so DH knew that I was going to test this morning. I came out of the bathroom holding the test and feeling shocked because I was convinced that this wasn't the month! He just smiled at me and then started talking about how excited he is that DD will have a sister :)

I was the same way re: wanting someone to show me.  The office pushed me off onto the pharmacy saying the pharmacy had agreed to show me, but when I got there, they said they didn't know how to show me.  DH called the doctor and they agreed to show me.  I'm thankful they did, but when I looked at the Lovenox website, some of what the nurse had shown me must have been outdated (she commented that their were differences in the product since the last time she had shown someone how to use it).  So, I'm also glad I looked at the product website so I wasn't injecting it incorrectly - the nurse had told me to push the air out of the needle for example, which excretes some of the solution, while the website specifically said not to do this.  Good luck on your second time around and congrats!

My bruising has become better over this past week (knock on wood!!).  The stinging afterwards is worse though and so is the resistance to the needle when first trying to break the skin.  I don't understand what I am doing differently that causes the needle to easily go in sometimes and other times, I end up having to try 2 or 3 different times to get the needle to break the skin.  Glad everyone is checking and doing well overall!

I only have injected in my stomach, but the office said I could inject in my thighs if I wanted to (I haven't though since I feel like it's painful enough on my stomach where I have plenty of cushioning).

Hope everyone has a good week!!
