I'm sure this has been asked but I've been out straight with work, havent been on here in forever, and only had time to scroll back a few pages today to check.
So do jackets stay on in the car? I pick up A at daycare and she's so overtired (they don't give an afternoon nap) that trying to get her into her carseat has been quite difficult the last week. And now that we've just recently added a heavy jacket on top of it it's even more of a struggle. Plus I'm afraid she's going to be really warm with the heat on?? But I cant imagine trying to wrestle it back on her when we get home to get out of the car.
Sorry, this seems like a pretty dumb question but just curious what others do.

According to DH, the resident carseat expert... no puffy jackets in the carseats because in a crash the jacket commpresses and the child can actually fly out of the harness. (It is a little more complicated than that).
That being said.. you have to do what is right for you. So far it has been pretty cold, but I have been able to manage with a Columbia fleece on DS since he was only going in and out of the car quickly, and not on any extended walks.
When we really need the winter coat I am not sure what I will do.. I may stick with the fleece and throw the coat over him, then remove it when I get to the car, or put it on Snuggie style.. who knows.

Ok, wow. Just wow. This is the very first time I'm hearing don't put a coat on a child in a carseat. Of course, I had struggles last year with big bulky snowsuits, so I didn't put it on DD and used a blanket. This year so far, she's only worn warm hoodies.
Thanks. Now I know. You would think someone might have mentioned this...somewhere....you know, a pedi, carseat people....someone...
Um...same here. Now I feel like an even bigger moron for posting this! I had no idea. She's been in a fleece up until this week but glad I know now. Thanks everyone.
