Babies: 0 - 3 Months

5 -6 month old mommies.. come in

How much tummy time do you do each day?

Can your DC sit up on their own?

Can your DC roll front front to back and back to front?

any signs of crawling?

Seeing a few posts today about babies crawling or on all fours that are younger than DS shocked me. I guess I just want to know how many other babies are close to that stage. I thought that they crawed a few months from now. no ?

  • Robbie rolls both ways and scoots around a lot, but doesn't get up on all fours. He can't sit up on his own, but he does "tripod" meaning he leans forward onto his hands on his own. He gets a lot of tummy time!

  • Just in the last week he's really started to barrell roll when I put him on the floor. He does tummy time for hours a day because that's how he sleeps now- plays on his activity mat and rolls on his belly from his back most of the time.

DC can sit with a hand down but can't sit on his own yet.

he kicks a ton and looks like he's swimming when on his belly.- He also moves across the floor by turning himself and using his hands- I would think he'll be crawling in the next 8 weeks or so.

  • She is on her belly probably an hour or two a day, plus when she naps. She has reflux, so she doesn't get laid on her back very much.

My dd does sit up on her own. She has been doing this for a couple of weeks now.

DD rolled over twice in the past few months from belly to back. Hasn't done it in a few weeks.

DD is able to lift her entire torso off the ground and actually started inching a little bit forward in the past day or so. I say she will be crawling in another month.

Every baby is different, try not to compare to much. My ds was delayed in everything. He didn't crawl until he was 12 months and walking at 17 months.

  • How much tummy time do you do each day?  Not much, we try, but he always wants to roll over onto his back!

Can your DC sit up on their own?  He;s still learning, doing better every day.

Can your DC roll front front to back and back to front? Front to back all the time, no interest in back to front, I think he's done it twice maybe.

any signs of crawling?  Nope, I think crawling at 5-6 months is the exception more than the rule, every baby is different.

  • 1. Tummy time, well, we're bad about it. She hates it, so she's basically only on her tummy when she rolls onto it. Not really a specified amount of time every day.

    2. Yes, she's been sitting for a week now!

    3. She started rolling front to back a while ago, and back to belly late September.

    4. She's trying sooo hard to get her legs under her, and she scoots around in a circle. But she can't coordinate her arms and legs under her at the same time, though she will get in crawling position if we hold her just above the ground. I'm thinking it's coming shortly.

  • How much tummy time do you do each day? - DS refuses to lay on his back so he instantly rolls onto his tummy every.single.time. So to answer your question, any time he is awake. :)

Can your DC sit up on their own? He has done the tripod for a month now. In the last few days he has started to sit back on his bum, but can't get both hands off the ground to sit up all the way. He can sit up if you do it for him, but he still tips over often.

Can your DC roll front front to back and back to front? Unfortunately, yes. DS is one of those early movers. He rolled back-to-belly at 2 1/2 months and didn't look back. He rolls both ways all over the place.

any signs of crawling? At 4 1/2 months he started scooting backwards and in circles so he was just moving around that way. He then had been learning how to get up on his hands and knees for awhile, but we didn't think he would crawl soon. About two weeks ago he just started going! He kind of does the worm, but he is a crawling monster now. I'm really surprised we are dealing with this already!!! I need to get the house baby-proofed.

  • Tummy time happens now when he rolls that way, although he's still not crazy about it.  Good thing he can roll back now too.  He started rolling about 2 weeks ago, first back to front and then front to back a few days later.  He can't sit for very long before toppling over.  No real signs of crawling yet, although I think he's trying to get his knees under him but he doesn't have the arm strength to push up.

  • We usually do 1-2 hours of tummy time a day. DS can't sit up on his own or crawl. He can roll all over the place.

  • maybe i should answer my own poll.

ds hates tummy time but we do it for about 15 minutes every few hours. not a ton though.

he can sit up if propped. he tends to fall forward because he likes to look down when sitting.

he has absolutely no signs of crawling. when he is on his back he kicks so he scoots backwards but thats about it. i an just shocked because i thought crawling at 7 months was early so 5 months seemed crazy to me. :)

  • DD gets a lot of tummy time, she prefers her stomach to her back. She has been rolling back to front for about 3 weeks. She can sit up unassisted for 30 seconds to 1 minute before she?topples. She has yet to roll front to back and she tries to get up on all fours but she has not mastered that yet.
  • I no longer force tummy time, so I don't know how much DS gets a day.

Yes, DS has been able to sit up on his own since he was 4.5 months old.  We're currently teaching him how to get into a sitting position on his own.

DS rolls very well from front to back.  He has rolled from back to front a few times, but it's still difficult for him to remember to move the bottom arm out of the way.

When he's on his tummy, DS scoots backwards, and has been doing so for quite a while.  He is trying really hard to go forward (army crawl style), but isn't strong enough yet.  I'm starting to see signs of him attempting to get on all fours, but I think crawling is still one or two months away.

  • How much tummy time do you do each day? At least a couple times a day. I know our sitter will do it with him during the day, and I try at night when we're playing. He really doesn't like it. He's much more interested in standing.

Can your DC sit up on their own? He can if he's propped up on something, but not completely on his own yet.

Can your DC roll front front to back and back to front? Not yet, but he's been rolling onto his side more lately.

    any signs of crawling? Nope.

  • He does a lot of tummy time at day care and at home, he hated tummy time at the beginning.  Now he'll flip to his tummy whenever he's on the floor/in crib.

He is getting much better at it and he still tumbles to the side after a while.  We can put him in a restaurant high chair or a shopping cart with no problems.

Yes he rolls all over the place.

He can inch on his tummy and he puts his butt up & but he hasn't quite got it all together yet.

  • How much tummy time do you do each day? Not really sure in terms of time. She's with a babysitter all day, but on the weekends it's at least 20 minutes of "dedicated" tummy time, plus whenever she rolls onto her tummy. She also sleeps on her tummy so before she falls asleep and when she wakes up she's usually just hanging out on her belly.

Can your DC sit up on their own? Yes, since the day before she turned 5 months. She can't pull herself into a sitting position yet, but if you sit her down she can stay up without using her hands for support

Can your DC roll front front to back and back to front? Yes, but she's still not a pro. It still takes her some considerable effort because she doesn't quite get what to do with the arm that's underneath her. She's getting there though! Day by day it takes her less and less time to get over.

Any signs of crawling? I don't think so, but I see "pre" signs. As in, she will put her hands flat on the floor and hold up her whole torso with her arms straight, elbows not bent. She will also scoot her knees under her belly. However she won't do both at once, so she has yet to get up on all fours, but she's slowly learning the pieces. She just has to learn to put them together and then I'll consider that "signs of crawling".

  • Once DD learned to roll to her tummy at 3.5 months there was no keeping her on her back.  She has been able to get herself into a sitting position since 5 months and started crawling a couple of weeks ago.  She is just a very motivated mover and shaker.  My sister's 3rd baby is 1 week older then mine and just starting to tripod sit and nowhere near crawling.  Every baby is soooo different.

  • This is a great post! I was curious to see what other babies her age are doing!  My lil one was born May 6th, so about 5.5 mos.

How much tummy time do you do each day? She plays on the floor for the most part of the day...that's where we usually play.

Can your DC sit up on their own? Oh yes! She sat up in her playpen after her nap the other day, and I just couldn't believe it. She's gotten extra quick at it now haha

Can your DC roll front front to back and back to front? She's been rolling back to front since she was about 4 weeks old. I put her to sleep on her back, and she's never liked that, so she always rolled herself over.

any signs of crawling? She does crawl. She is just SO lazy! She only crawls after what she really wants. She crawled from the living room yesterday, over a little ledge, and into the kitchen because my mom put some plastic containers with beads in them for her to shake, and she was there in no time! Her favorite thing is to "stand" around like Mowgli from Jungle Book with her legs up, and arms holding her up.
