There's a few people on my birth month board who already know the sex. How, at 13.5 weeks is that even possible? I mean, it would be pretty awesome to know so early, but... yeah. I get it if the results were from an amnio, but this was from an ultrasound... how accurate could this even be?

That seems awfully early to me. We found out at 15w6d and it was obvious, but part of me was hesitant.

I can't imagine it being 100% at 13.5 weeks. (I know they're never 100% but i'm sure you know what I'm getting at)

I read a recent study that techs trained in the "angle of the dangle" theory were 85% accurate in guessing gender at the NT scan. But the problem with that is how do you know if your tech is one of those trained techs?

I've heard that they can clearly tell, but that the level of errors are also very very high, so that's why they don't normally tell you yet. Also, if someone has done IVF with PGD, they will know the gender if their fertility clinic tells them.

People are finding out at NT scans. Seems too early to trust for me. We are team green anyway but during our NT scan the tech made a mention of how she won't even attempt to guess.

This. Only we're obviously not team green. lol We had our first guess with Lily at 16w, and 15w with the twins.

CVS testing will tell you that early. I know our tech wouldn't even give us a guess at the NT.

People get guesses all the time at the NT scan but they aren't always very accurate.

Yeah, I've seen several posts on 2nd tri that are all "ZOMG, they got the gender wrong at the NT scan, what am I supposed to do with all these pink things I bought!?".

When I had an NT scan with my first pg they told me in the beginning they could wager a guess if I wanted, but not to paint the nursery or anything. And I had to sign something saying that the gender was just a guess and not a 100%.

They said girl at both NT scans and it turned out to be right. So essentially, I had an idea at 12 weeks. We certainly didn't buy anything or go crazy telling people until both anatomy scans confirmed it.

We had an u/s with DS at 13.5 weeks due to some early blood in my uterus, thankfully nothing notable, but the tech offered to share the gender. DH and I took it with a grain of salt because it was soo early, but 6 weeks later he was still right! Our boy still had a "pistol." lol.

my ob says 60-75% accuracy at 14 weeks. my question is why would a u/s tech even guess or try to?!

Some find out at the NT scan, though it is not very accurate. The tech who did my NT did not even suggest guessing and I didn't ask either.

We found out with Zoe at 13 weeks and with this baby at 14 weeks. They were definitely correct with Zoe and I think they are this time

. It's possible but there is still room for error. Most doctors won't look and give a guess, but if you are open to the fact that they may be wrong, they might.

I don't trust the early u/s guesses. I have two nieces that were boys according the u/s techs during their 12 week scans.

I told the tech during our NT scan that I didn't even want her to guess.

Like everyone else said, the rate of guessing wrong is too high for me to trust it that early. My doctor said they weren't going to even look for it until 22 weeks at our anatomy scan. I got it bumped up a week, but by 21 weeks, they SHOULD be able to tell...if my stubborn one is behaving him/herself. lol

They have to be going off a "guess" at the NT Scan. Granted, I was given a "guess" too, and I didn't put money on it b/c I didn't believe it. I waited until they confirmed it at the anatomy scan to even buy anything boy related. They don't REALLY know. I hate it when people get a guess at that u/s and then assume it's 100% written in stone.

They wouldn't even entertain the idea of taking a guess at our NT scan. They told us if we wanted to know the gender, to come as close to 20 weeks as we could (our hospital does the anatomy scan 18-20 weeks).

They probably got a guess at their NT - and a number of them will be SHOCKED when, at the more proper point of 18-20 weeks, they are told the guess was wrong.

That would be why my NT scan tech laughed like a loon when I asked about a guess. He said that "angle of the dangle" thing, while not untrue, is hardly reliable. And he's the head tech of a huge lab.

Its just a guess, the odds are pretty good 50/50 Stick out tongue

I hope they are not buying anything pink or blue yet.
