Hi - I know I haven't posted on Detroit boards much before, but I really need help. I haven't had a OB/GYN in this area. I moved here about 7 years ago, and went back to my old one for awhile since I spent half my time in Lansing, half in Detroit.
I'm 8 weeks pregnant and have been starting to look for an OB. (found out a 6wks, saw family physician, but got pneumonia and bronchitis for the past 10 days and am only just starting to look now) I'm a little freaked out on timing, but am not planning on going in until 10 weeks as my husband gets back from Australia then.
So - anyone have any recommendations? Downtown Detroit would be great, but I don't know many people having babies down here. I think there's a good chance I'll be driving to a suburb, so feel free to recommend anywhere, and I'll gauge how far it is.
Several people I know said they liked Royal Oak Beaumont for delivery. I had 2 ppl swear they loved Women's Health Institute, but I don't know if I'm on crack to think an hour round trip (w/o traffic) to each appointment. I usually drive a long way for a lot of stuff, but not sure how much time is spent at a doctor during a pregnancy, and we have a really busy work life.
Also, I've had Dr Brodsky or Dr Taylor in Ferndale recommended. Anyone have any experience w/ them?
Thanks tons for input, I'd really appreciate it b/c I'm a little lost and desperate to figure this part of pregnancy out.
Re: Another OB Rec request - I live/work right downtown in the D
Btw - insurance will cover just probably all locations
Giving myself a link to this post: Anyone deliver out of Royal Oak Beaumont? (would love to hear more in there about your experiences in general there as this is a very likely hospital for me)
I've had people rave about Huron Valley, but I think that's way too far of a drive for us if there's any kind of emergency, or even for dh to duck back and forth if he needs to be back at work or home during the timeframe. (50 min drive one way) Damn. Yes, I need to rule that out as too far.

Hi!
I live in downtown Detroit too. I was seeing on OB at Henry Ford, but he sucked. So I am switching to one who delivers at Hutzel. Her practice is right on Woodward. I haven't seen her yet (Dr. Kaur) but will keep you posted. I got great referrals for delivering at Hutzel and am hoping to have a good experience. Good luck : )
Dr.Kaur is apretty good doc, however her office days sucked. I wanted a doc thats available all the time to there pt's. She delivered my cousins child with ease. Good Luck
I delivered at St.John main and it was the BEST. Dr.Anne Schneider and team really made me comfortable, informed and VIP throughtout my pregnancy, delivery and post natal visit. My nurse during delivery was an Angel. I highly recommend St.John main.
I saw you mention Dr. Brodsky and thought I would chime in. I LOVE LOVE LOVE him. He delivered both of my daughters and both of my deliveries were perfect and I really think a lot of it had to do with him. I have never met a Dr as caring as he is. If you have any questions about his office let me know.
As a side note...he does not deliver at Beaumont anymore. He delivers out of Botsford, Providence (southfield or providence park novi) or DMC hospitals.
