LO Not Moving Much

Hi All!

I was just curious if anyone else's LO doesn't move around much.  I read where a lot of people say that their baby moves nonstop but I only occasionally feel him.  I went to the doctor last Friday and everything is okay, along with having a non-stress test done 2 weeks ago.  That came back okay too.  I just wish he would move around more so that I know he's doing okay.  Please tell me some of y'all experience the same thing and I'm being a worry wart over nothing... :)

  • it's funny you posted this because I have the same concern! ...i have my dr. appt in 2hrs so i was going to express my concern to her.

I really only feel LO in the morning...occassionaly in the afternoon and at night ...but other than that I don't really feel him much ...i'm on my feet all day so I think it's because he is either sleeping or I just don't pay attention to his kicks and jabs.

  • I notice movement more at certain times of the day. There are periods of no movement all day when the baby's sleeping. I feel most movement about a half hour to hour after breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. Sometimes in the early morning (4 a.m.).

  • My LO is exactly the same.  I got worried last week because I had barely felt her for 2 days.  So I went to the doc and they put me on the monitor for 20 minutes.  I could hear baby moving a lot and they said that she was fine...even though I didn't feel her.  They said that they weren't sure why I don't feel her but that as long as I feel her 10 times per day that I shouldn't be worried!  Good luck!
  • I get worried about that too. Are there certain times in the day where LO moves no matter what? Like mine moves every morning at 6:30am and wakes me up. If he didn't move in the morning at 6:30 I would call the doctor, because it has become that regular. If I get nervous I eat a little snack, drink some water and lay on my left side til I feel him move. And, he moves when I lay down for bed. Plus, if I am nervous I just pay attention more and I usually notice movement more. I think I just ignore the movement sometimes.

I am sure everything is fine.

  • Whew, so glad I have you ladies.  I ask friends and they freak me out even more by saying, "You should be feeling him all the time!!!"  He really doesn't have a pattern though.

Then I read these weekly emails I get that say LO is around 15.5 inches long and I think to myself, "Why can't I feel him when he's that big?!"  Hopefully this means he will be a relaxed baby! :)

  • My LO is a very curious specimen. Ever since I started to feel definitive movement, he has his days where he's non-stop, days where he's taking a break (mostly sleeping), and days where he's moving a bit here and there, but not jumping around silly active. I figure it's just his specific pattern of movement.

  • I also think it is hard to remember that we shouldn't always compare our LO's movements with another LO. I freak myself thinking the same thing! My LO will go from moving a lot to just pretty mello. I also haven't been feeling kicks much anymore just mostly rolling around and stretching!

My LO is the same way!

OP - has your doc mentioned the position of your placenta by any chance?  I off-handedly commented during an u/s 2 weeks ago that I wasn't feeling any of the movement we could see on the screen, and my doc nonchalantly replied with "Well, that's probably because you have an anterior placenta... haven't I mentioned that before?"  LOL  So my placenta muffles a lot of LO's movements, apparently.

  • They say that babies are usually active when you aren't so it's recommended to lay down and try to feel them. Everytime I feel worried, I do that, on some days it takes a while for her to come around.
  • LO moves pretty frequently for me, but i have noticed she has pretty much set her own "schedule" already. I feel her the most when i first wake up in the mornings and then thru out the afternoon on and off till about 6 or 7 and then i dont feel her hardly at all.

Today, however i have not felt near as much movement from her. i just figure she's having a lazy day. Seems to be a lazy day for the entire household!!! lol. Rainy day here!
