Baby Registry For a Second baby

Tacky right?

MY distant cousin who is pregnant with her second baby a boy registered again for her shower. She just had a girl last july registered for that. And for this one she wants another bouncer, bumbo in blue, a high chair that is supposedly boyish!! that baby wont care what he is sitting or or eating on right? It is so tacky Why would you register for things you already have? She should just accept clothes that is a big help right there. What do you guys think? And its not like they need help her husband works in stocks and bonds just bought a 500,000 house and he bought her a new car.?

  • I personally think it's tacky. You're right, a baby doesn't care what color their bouncer or Bumbo is.
  • i'd support her registering for those things and leaving it up to people whether or not to buy something again. but having another shower so soon...no no no. unless it were one of those showers that her close friends were throwing just for clothes and diapers and stuff, which obviously is not the case here!

  • Yeah its a little tacky. Its why I decided to go gender neutral with alot of things so that I would be able to use them again in the future if I had a boy.

  • I don't see anything wrong with registering for things for a second baby.  A lot of moms do it so they can get the completion discount to use themselves or because other family members have specifically asked what they want/need especially with the holidays coming up.  Now, if the expecting couple is telling people without being asked where they are registered and/or expecting a shower or gifts- that's tacky!

  • Okay, I totally understand registering for clothes and maybe a boyish toy here or there, but seriously?! She didn't think about keeping it as gender-nueatral as possible last year? That's what I did! So luckily this year the only major thing I'll need is a double stroller.

    Yup.
  • I don't think it's super tacky if they register for things they might need for a second..... A $35 blue bumbo, not a big deal. But a $200-300 new travel system and highchair and everything like that, yeah, tacky. We're TTC right now and when I do, regardless of gender, I plan to just register for the things that I didn't get with DS or that I just need new of. The biggest things would be a double stroller and a pack n play (never got one with DS). Possibly even a smaller high chair that straps to the seat (like a booster) so one can be in a chair and one can be in the big high chair we have. That sounds reasonable to me. Everything else would be littler like a binkies, nipples for bottles, a diaper bag (after 2 years a new one would be nice) etc. I wouldn't be registering for all new things like travel systems, high chairs and video moniters, etc.

Yep.  We planned ahead with our registry for DS.  Pretty much everything is neutral in case we have another baby.  And we do have blue stuff, and if I have a DD then I think she'll be okay in a blue boppy.

These were my exact words to MIL when SIL registered for #2.

  • I updated my registry for DS2 only because people wanted to buy gifts and were asking my mom if there was anything I needed, so she tells them to look at the registry.
