so on top of being an entertainer for elderly russians who dont bring thier own god damn shampoo, conditioner and body wash, my husband's debit card info was stolen.
well it was apparently stolen while he was in al-asad iraq on his way home 2 MONTHS AGO, and the a-holes just used it now to buy skype calling for like 10 people. and 6 dollars at the shopette or whatever AAFES thing they have out there.
Re: and im officially going to throat punch some one
yeah but it was just the cherry on top of an already aggravating day. when i logged onto my bank that was the last thing i wanted to see, but i guess its good i caught it while it was pending.
on the upside my bank now makes "mini cards" like the things you attach your keychain and the husband gets to have one of those now too.
Ugh, I feel for you! I had the same exact thing happen to me not that long ago. The best part is, I live in New Jersey and someone was making charges in Pennsylvania using my debit card number! Not my actual card considering it was in my wallet, but just my number. Not sure how the card # was gotten, but basically the person made a fake card with my number on it. He or She would go to use it, it wouldn't swipe, so the cashiers would just enter in the information manually. Scary that such a thing as that is so easy! I was beyond annoyed that the bank never picked up on it. This jerk ended up stealing over $2,000 from our checking account! He/She made about $1,500 worth of purchases from Home Depot (5 various stores located throughout the state of Pa.), Starbucks, Applebee's, AT&T ... oh, they had a field day!
As soon as we noticed, I automatically called the bank and they cancelled my card number. The next day I did a police report and went to the bank to speak with someone to make sure all the necessary paperwork was in. The thing that annoyed me the most was that all of those companies have video surveillance and nobody was able to go back to find this person.
Another thing that almost sent me through the roof was that our bank said "pending investigation" we may or may not get our money back. I think our saving grace was the police report, which you may want to do if you haven't already.
I also had to contact all credit bureaus to put a warning on myself, god forbid this person had more information on me. I should probably do another one since the first one was only good until June. Makes me so upset knowing that I've been violated like that. I was scared for months thinking this person also had access to my home address or telephone number.
In the end, luckily we got all our money back. But the most upsetting part of all of this was that this person still got away with FREE money! We still have no idea how this person got my card information considering I had my card physically on me. I'm assuming either from me purchasing something online or from buying gas.
