Cleaning Out

DH and I desperatly need to clean out our junk room to make room for toys for Miss Priss. We plan on turning it into a playroom for her, but we have to get rid of the junk in their first.

Our house has no attic or spare closets so everything from old stuff from our parents house's, to Christmas decorations, to now baby stuff is so packed in the room you can barely walk in there.

Considering either a yard sale, craigslist, consignment, or Goodwill. What have you had the most success with?

Re: Cleaning Out

  • We are doing the same thing :)  We had a yard sale back in the summer and had great success with that...if you do it, do it at the first of the month...that seems to be prime time for yard salers (from my experience anyway).  What's left is going to the Downtown Rescue Mission...including an entire bedroom suite.  We didn't put that in the garage sale because we need it until after Thanksgiving then hopefully someone else can get some good use out of it.  I didn't want to fool with trying to sell it.

Good luck!  I am so ready for our room to be cleared out so I can get to the fun stuff of decorating a playroom :)

  • I would probably try Craigslist first considering yard sale season is almost over.  Whatever you don't sale on Craigslist you might could donate or hold onto until spring and then organize a yard sale.
  • I've had a lot of luck with selling stuff on Craigslist.
  • i also say Craigslist..

we moved here from Los Angeles and sold EVERYTHING on craigslist..we just didnt want to have to bother with paying to have it moved, so whatever didnt fit in the excusion..didnt go..so we made sure to put the 3 kids and the dog in first..lol

  • Thanks for the help ladies! I will be doing Craigslist first, and then anything that doesn't sell in a reasonabile amount of time will be going to consignment or goodwill. Just to get it out of my house!
