We REALLY need our downstairs carpets cleaned and deoderized. Anyone use Stanley Steemer? How'd they do? What kind of carpet do you have? We have berber, and we're tried the rug doctor. It just doesn't penetrate deep enough.
H used to work for a carpet cleaning company, and he cleaned the berber carpet in our living room 3 times in the last year. It would always come clean, but within days it looked like it did before. I've given up on it and am determined to replace the carpet with my tax return!
Stanley Steemer was fine enough I guess. But it wont work well if they don't have access to the hot water. We lived in a 3rd story condo, and they couldn't reach the hot water. So our carpets were basically cleaned with room temperature water ... and it didn't seem like they got very clean.
Buy yourself a steam cleaner and do it yourself. It will do as good a job and won't cost you as much.
we have and they're pretty good. our dog ruined our living room rug so we ended up ripping it up and putting hard wood in. but we still have rug in our bedroom and on our stairs.
like pp said it looks great at first but doesn't take long for it to look dirty again.

Thanks, ladies! We have a carpet cleaner, and it gets the spots out. It doesn't seem to get the smell out, though. I'd love to rip up the carpet, but we're renting, so we're trying to salvage it! Now I'm on the fence still! :P
Culkinator54- I would suggest giving your local Stanley Steemer a call. They can better guide you on what would best suite your needs, dependent on your specific case (type of carpet, what type of stains/odors you have).
