DS still nurses quite heavily during the day. In fact, this is sort of embarrassing, but I actually have to take both his naps with him so that he can nurse for the entire nap (which is fine for me because I'm pregnant and tired) and I nurse him to sleep every night. He sleeps in his crib and luckily, he does usually STTN or only wakes once.
I know I'm only 9 weeks pregnant, so I do have about 6 months to work this out, but how will I ever get him to take a nap and go to bed at night without nursing? DH doesn't get home from work until late, so I'm going to have to put both kids to bed on my own. Do you think this is something I should just go with the flow on, or should I be actively trying to change this situation ASAP? Anyone have any suggestion or insight? thanks!
Re: kinda freaking out (extended BF related)
It will work itself out. Take it from a mom who's been in your position twice. Whatever solution you come up with now will not be what you find yourself worrying about when the new baby gets here. Things will change so much in the next 6 months--some things for the better, some for the worse, but your issues you'll have will be new ones. If he's still waking or needing you for sleeping at that point, you'll cross that bridge when you come to it.
FWIW, I had to still put DS to sleep when DD1 was born, and had to put DD1 to sleep when DD2 was born, and DS was still nightwaking when DD1 was born (sometimes). I figured it out quickly. Some of my best memories are rocking both to sleep in my arms.
