Recently I have received alot of advice from friends who are moms... they all tell me I will feel better if I just throw up.
But I can't do it! I just don't let it happen. I breath very controlled through the nausea the nausea and eat my tiny meals religously.
Saturday I laid on the bathroom floor crying for an hour because I didn't want to do it. I guess I have this fear that if I do it once I won't be able to stop.
And my husband made a good point. It's not like you drank too much tequila or ate bad food and now your stomach NEEDS this bacteria out of you... It's hormones, and even if I vomit, the hormones will still be there.
What does this group suggest? Just throw up because it will feel better? Or fight the urge as i have been because in the end it doesn't help?
Re: Anyone else stop themselves from vomiting?
I don't throw up, I refuse to. Even when I'm actually sick, I've got to be seriously ill to actually throw up.
That being said, I have not thrown up this pregnancy & I only threw up once with DD (and I was stinkin 36 weeks - I gagged myself brushing my teeth!) My thoughts also are if I start throwing up, I won't be able to stop & I will throw up until this ms stage passes (with DD is was at 18 weeks). Anyways, I eat small meals/snacks constantly and take my Phenergan. I almost got sick last week trying to take my pill, but I forced it back down. Nothing wrong with not throwing up!
Throwing up made me feel okay for about 12 seconds afterwards when my m/s was bad. Your husband hit the nail on the head - you can't throw up the hormones.
I was world class at keeping myself from actually hurling when I was nauseous. Believe me - there were times when there was no way I could keep it down - but for the most part, I breathed through the really bad waves and could stop it at the dry heaving. Forcing yourself to barf is no good. There will be no stopping it at times, but if you can get through it without throwing up, do.
Yes. I had horrible vomiting with DD one. I also would lay on the bathroom floor and cry. I read in one of my pregnancy books that the hormones slow down digestion . It can slow it down to the point of the food staying in one place them coming back up. Everyone says "small meals, crackers, ginger ale, etc". This all did nothing and this is why...
The book said that protein speeds up digestion. It said to try to eat cheese, eggs, chicken, etc. I know all of these things are the last things you want when you feel like vomiting. What I did was choke down cottage cheese first thing in the morning (I know gross but worth it). Sure enough, I stopped vomiting. One serving has like triple protein that yogurt has. Some greek yogurt has a lot of protein too. During the day, I would eat sharp cheddar cheese with crackers. The protein in the cheese helped. Good luck!
I'm a first thing in the am puker. Get up. Pee. Puke. Eat banana. (MH now stocks our bathroom closet with bananas so that I don't have to go anywhere once the nastiness is over!) In that order, every day since the tail end of week 5.
I definitely feel better when it's done. I mean, it's miserable during the process, but when it's over, relief.
Haha, thanks ladies.
Looks like the conflicting reports continue. But I do feel stronger in my idea to hold off on the puking as long as I can. If it happens one day when I can't control it, then it happens. If I feel better after. Maybe I'll consider it after that.
ALSO for all my nauseated friends... I just found these awesome candies at Babies R Us... The are B-Natals green-apple flavored B6 candies. You can only take 3 a day, but they are really helping boost me a bit. Last night for the first time in weeks I was able to eat an entire meal and play with my dogs without needing to lay down and breath through the nausea! BUT they are expensive. $16 for only 28... so only a 9 or 10 day supply. But soooo worth it.
