...without throwing up. 3 mornings in a row now...on Sat am I thought it was because I had just eaten my breakast so on Sun am I tried to brush first and nope, threw up again. This AM, I didn't eat, I only used a little paste and was trying to go really slow and gentle. Still made me start dry heaving then couldn't hold it in.
Anyone else with this prob and have any suggestions? My teeth feel gross. I seem to be able to use mouthwash, but still want to brush!!
Re: I can't brush my teeth...
Is it the toothpaste or the brushing? Maybe try switching to a totally different toothpaste?
I'm sorry, that stinks!
That stinks!
Have you tried using the disposable tooth brushes- I forget who makes them...they are plastic?
I thought this too, but it's not the brush, it's the toothpaste I think. I've always had a gag reflex when brushing teeth, so I'm not suprised this is happening. I think I am going to try to get some fruity toothpaste maybe and see it that will help.
I know how you feel. I start gagging as soon as I put a toothbrush in my mouth. Wish I had some advice to give, but I can't figure out how to make it stop.
yeah, good idea, a coworker mentioned those ones that you put on your finger and brush...might try those too. thanks!
Try Cinnamon too! yum!
I've had this problem also. One thing that's worked for me is using a dry toothbrush and avoiding the tongue. I use mouthwash alone if I feel like it's too risky and just swish a couple extra times.
First time it happened to me I threw up half in the sink and the rest in the toilet. Sweet DH removed the sink mess while I finished crying and cleaning myself up.
When I was pregnant with DS I gagged EVERY time I brushed my teeth, sometimes leading to puking which lead to more brushing! So it may not go away. I found I am better in the evening and so that's when I really brush 'em up good and in the morning I brush as fast as humanly possible. For me it's my back teeth/tounge/spitting that gets me so it doesn't matter which toothbrush/paste I use.
Good luck!
I have the same issue sometimes (it depends on how sensitive my stomach is feeling at the time). Thanks to my 4 year old niece, I found that using kids toothpaste, especially the bubble gum flavor, helps a lot.
