i know most people have many different diapers in their stash but please tell me your favorite system and why. I am a newbie and would love to hear everyone's opinion.
Right now I am loving fitteds and wool. They are very absorbent and super cute and no stuffing pockets. But ask me next week and I will probably have a different answer.

Me, too. Fitteds with wool is my current obsession. This is the system we use at home. I am getting tired of stuffing pockets. However, we need a simple system for daycare, so I am considering trading my pockets for AIOs....
With DD1, I loved prefolds with Thirsties covers in the beginning. That was all we used for the first three months, and we continued using them in addition to pockets and fitteds until she started solids at five months. I liked pfs because they are so versatile (no need to pack separate diapers and burp cloths in the diaper bag), and because they are so easy to clean. The sun zaps stains right out of them (I find it doesn't work nearly as well with synthetic fabrics) and I could throw them in the dryer on cloudy days without worrying about ruining PUL or elastic. The covers dry on the line in a flash, indoors or outdoors.
After we started solids, we switched to pockets. They dry quicker than AIOs, and you can customize the absorbency as needed.
For nights, for a long time I loved fitteds and wool. Good fitteds are easy to come by used, and I knit my own wool so that's not too expensive either. They were bulletproof for us for a while.
Then we switched to pockets for nights - BG 3.0s or Blueberry OS stuffed with a Super-Do insert, an AFFF hemp insert (stands for Artsy Fartsy Foo Foo, a Hyenacart vendor) and a hemp doubler.
For DD2, we are using pfs and covers, but I also bought some fitteds to use with the covers. I like them both. Fitteds contain poo better, but it's nice to have some pfs on hand since, like I said, you can throw them in the dryer without guilt and they're ready to go quicker.
For the newborn stage, we used prefolds and thirsties covers. We had a few kissaluvs, but didn't grab for them first because they were so bulky. We are going to try some different fitteds for baby #2. We use pockets and aios for daycare because they are super easy for the teachers. At home we use fitteds, usually without a cover. If we go out, we use thirsties covers. I really want to try wool, but I think it will only add to my addiction! Ha!

For the newborn stage I loved fitteds with covers. They really held in all the runny newborn poop. Never had a leak.
Now we use BG organics almost exclusively during the day and BG 4.0's at night. DH and I both love BG organics because they are super easy like disposables, just snap on and go, and very very absorbent. The 4.0's are great because I can add hemp doublers for nighttime and I have never had one leak. That is with DD STTN 12 hours.
To the OP, I'm still a newbie. I love fitteds, but I can see why some get tired of the stuffing. I have one AIO and it's good, except for the dry time. For awhile I really liked AI2s, but I'm kind of losing my love for them. I'm currently using more fitteds with wool.
I love pockets. I like that they have the "stay-dry" feeling that wicks wetness away from baby and that they dry quickly in the dryer since the inserts are separate. I don't mind stuffing pockets!
I have some Kissaluvs fitteds that I use with a cover, but I don't like to keep the diaper on for very long since it feels soooo wet! I think they might be a good option when I'm ready to start potty training, though.

This exactly. When DS was a newborn, we used KL0s with Thirsties covers. Now we use BG organic/elementals during the day and BG 4.0s at night with hemp doublers. We're starting to get leaks every now and then with the 4.0s, so I just bought some MSOs to try those out.

Can I just say I'm jealous?!
