TTC After a Loss

I'm back and a question/poll

I quietly moved on to PgAL thinking I didn't post enough to make a big "woo-hoo announcement", and our "woo-hoo" did not end well.  We lost our second at 10 weeks.

We are TTA until March--we are possibly going to Italy and Spain for my spring break (HS Teacher).

And now my first post back question:

How much did your cycle change after your loss?

After my first loss, it didn't really change at all and I had a D&E.  This time it was a natural m/c.

I'm curious if the way things end (natural, d&c, d&e, etc.) matters.  I'm finding that I am a "data girl"; I just want info, even if it isn't necessarily scientific.  Thanks girls!

  • So sorry for you second loss! Sad

It took my 43 days for AF to show up after my D&C.  And that's where I'm currently at....having had another AF cycle yet.

  • I'm so sorry for your losses.

My cycles have been so irregular that I have no idea if or what has changed. Sorry I'm not much help.

Do you chart? That's the best way for you to know what's going on with your cycles.

  • I noticed your announcement post on PgAL a little while back, and then your goodbye post.  I am so sorry for your loss.  :(   So not fair!

My cycles are completely different.  29 day cycle with O on CD15 pre-m/c.

Now, on average, I O on CD31 and have a 11 day LP.  It blows.  I'm going to start Clomid next cycle probably if I don't get KU this cycle.

ETA:  I forgot to add--it started as a natural m/c but ended up having a d&c

  • Thanks for your nice words.  I did chart before.  And dh is wanting me to just relax and not wake up every morning and temp or pee on things :)  I don't mind relaxing for awhile too.  And I remember from last time how many girls said their cycles changed.  Just curious what you all are experiencing.

  • I can totally understand wanting to take a break and not chart. I hope your cycles stay pretty much the same. (((HUGS)))

  • I am so sorry to hear about your loss...

My cycle was perfect after my loss, it was on time regular flow and 4-5 days long. (It was not that perfect before I got pregnant) It was oddly perfect afterward though.

  • my cycles seem to be longer now...I have had 2 post MC AFs....so the first one we can't really go by but the second one was 33 days (I used to be 28-29 days).  Since I have not O'd yet I am figuring this one will be longer too.
  • I'm sorry about your second loss. :(

Before my first miscarriage my cycle was 28 days regular and it was awesome.  Now I'm anywhere from 32-38 days. My O date is pushed way back too.  After my CP my cycle was wonky too.  Charting i think is your best bet. it helps me figure out my cycle since my days aren't anywhere near regular.

  • I am so sorry about your 2nd loss. There are a bunch of us who've come back from pgal - it is just heartwrenching.

My first loss was a natural m/c - I went from having anywhere from 26-34 day cycles to clockwork 28-29 day cycles, oing around cd14-16 - pretty much textbook.

I had methotrexate this time and I am still waiting for things to end, its looking like I might bleed straight thru till af so I have no idea what my cycles are going to wind up like this time around.

  • I'm so sorry for your losses.

My first post m/c cycle was exceedingly long.  I had to have prometrium for 10 days to get it started as at about 6 weeks post m/c it still hadn't shown up.  I had a natural m/c that included quite a bit of hemorrhaging and I bled for a total of about a week and a half to two weeks.  The next two cycles were like they were when I was a teen - long, but like clockwork on timing.  The fourth was weird as I O'ed early and had a short cycle.  I'm now on my fifth and it seems to be more like the usual than last month's cycle.

  • I am so sorry for both of your losses! I don't have very good information to share because my RE put me on BCP's to "let my ovaries rest" before our IVF cycle.

We had a d&c at 9 weeks 3 days. I had on and off spotting for 2 weeks, started what I think was AF 3 weeks post-op. My RE started me in BCP the day I "think" started. I just finished the first pack (skipped the inactive pills) and started a new pack on Friday and started a very mild AF.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss.

I had a natural m/c at 10 weeks in August. AF returned after 38 days, which pleasantly surprised me, considering I usually have 32 day cycles so I was impressed AF was so timely and unchanged. I was wrong. That was the only period I've had since the m/c. My cycles are completely screwed up now. I'm on CD 39 and still nothing. I hope your cycles stay as close as possible to normal and I wish you all the best TTC when the time is right. Big hugs.

  • I'm so very sorry for your loss. I lost my first at 8 weeks naturally, and my cycle returned almost on time about a month later, which was I know, a huge rarity. I hear from many that the longer you are pg, the longer it takes to get your period back...but don't hold me to that.

As far as my cycles after the m/c, the first was very light, and not very painful at all, which was wierd to me. After that one, my cycles became much heavier. I seem to pass more clots now than I use to (sorry for the TMI) and the pain depends on the cycle. My periods are also seeming to be a tad longer now, and I spot for a few days before they begin, which I only ever used to spot for one.

    HTH.

Again, so very sorry for your loss and that you've found yourself back here. I hope though that the board continues to be a source of support. I am TTA as well, until May. :)
